Diablo Cody is Directing Her Religious Comedy Script 'Lamb of God'
Mandate Pictures really seems to love Diablo Cody. They fast-tracked her latest Jason Reitman-directed film, Young Adult, now they're fast-tracking her latest project, a script she wrote called Lamb of God. But instead Reitman directing this time, Cody herself will be making her directorial debut. The comedy follows a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner (of course), and on her journey finds her way back to her faith. Deadline/THR are reported the news, including that Mason Novick (Juno, 500 Days of Summer, Young Adult) will produce.
"Having been in the trenches with Diablo and Mason on Juno and Young Adult, we immediately jumped at the opportunity to partner again," said Mandate Pictures president Nathan Kahane. "It's an honor to be part of Diablo's transition to director." I'm not really sure if Diablo Cody has the chops to be a director, but I suppose we'll find out soon, and I'm sure she's learned a lot following Reitman around. I expect this to show up at afilm festival first, and that will be the real proving grounds. But with Cody's patent quirky humor, this might turn out quite fun, I'm sure there's going to be a lot of edgy religious jokes that might upset a few. With the film on the fast-track at Mandate, casting is expected to start right away so we'll keep you updated.

I want to say really bad things. But it's better to just laugh inside my head.
