Unless this is a twisted viral where in five months we'll all feel Punk'd, it is real and is coming this October. Butterfinger the 13th will be the first-ever film produced not by a major studio or filmmaker, but by one of America's iconic candy brands. "Butterfinger is going where no candy bar has gone before, leaping from the concession stand sidelines to the big screen spotlight." And signed on to make movie-making history with Butterfinger is none other than actor, producer, NY Times best-selling author Rob Lowe." This has me speechless. Um, what? Bloody-Disgusting found a teaser and it's not much, but its got Butterfinger in it.
I've added more information and quotes from the official press release from Nestle below. Apparently this is real, or so they claim, but who knows if it's all just a big marketing gimmick. Watch the official trailer below!
Here is the full-length official trailer for Rob Lowe's Butterfinger the 13th, embedded via YouTube:
"Butterfinger's history with irreverent comedy drew me to this really unique, fun project," said director Rob Lowe. "As an artist, I get to explore the world of horror movie-making with a comedic twist. It's going to be a psychological thriller that will leave you laughing." Butterfinger the 13th will take its audience on a perilous journey with the film's hero, whose paranoia leads him to believe that someone wants to lay a finger… in more ways than one. "Butterfinger is always looking to deliver new and exciting entertainment experiences for fans, mixed in with a heavy dose of clever fun," said Butterfinger spokesperson Tricia Bowles. "With Rob Lowe behind the camera for this humorously horrific masterpiece, Butterfinger the 13th is sure to be a hit, and we can't wait for Butterfinger fans everywhere to be scared funny." Are they serious?
As for if this film is actually going to get released in theaters on October 13th, which I doubt, it only says: "The top-secret Butterfinger the 13th production is coming soon to an undisclosed location near you, which you may or may not be able to find on a map, but if you really know Butterfinger, you can probably figure out where, and besides Rob Lowe says he really wants to go there." One time, I went to the movies with my sister, and she hid two Whopper Jr.s with cheese in her purse.

I watched a homeless man crying on the street over a dead dog today, but now this is the most depressing thing I've ever seen.

Definitely a viral or even an elaborate marketing campaign for said candy. Nothing in the trailer looked like real movie footage, everything vague and generic. I'd say it still has something to do with Butterfinger and not something awesome, although I have no idea what.
