After working together on the original Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, THR reports director Niels Arden Oplev and star Noomi Rapace (who can next be seen in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in December) are set to reunite for a new mob drama called Dead Man Down. In addition, Colin Farrell will be joining them in the film as a mobster’s hitman who falls for a disfigured former beauty (Rapace), with the two of them going on a violent spree. The script comes from J.H. Wyman who is also producing the film along with Neal Mortiz and Ori Marmur though their Original Films banner.
The project sounds a bit like a darker, contemporary version of Bonnie and Clyde but without all the bank robbing. Since the film is one of many being shopped around the American Film Market right now, there's no guarantee that this film will actually come together, but currently the hope is to have the film shooting sometime in early 2012. For those who enjoyed the foreign film adaptation of the aforementioned best-selling novel, this reunion should be a promising one, especially with a name like Farrell, who has taken on a great variety of roles recently from Horrible Bosses to Fright Night, also getting involved.
