Romeo and Juliet / Ed Westwick

The actor has already made waves on The CW series "Gossip Girl" and we'll get a chance to see him on the big screen in Clint Eastwood's Hoover biopic, and now Ed Westwick landed himself another film role. Variety reports the actor is set to play Tybalt in a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet from Italian director Carlo Carlei which already has True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld as the titular female lead in the tragic romance. For those who haven't dealt with the Shakespeare play in school, or seen any of the various film versions, Tybalt is Lady Capulet's nephew and the arch rival of Romeo, which does not bode well for him.

Shakespeare's material being one of the harder written works to act out on stage or screen, I'm always interested to see how young talent handles the signature writing style of the classic writer. Westwick also joins Holly Hunter who just recently joined the cast as The Nurse, but we're still waiting to find out who will play Romeo opposite Steinfeld. As for the most recent addition to the cast, his deceptive yet handsome demeanor should make him a fine Tybalt, but I quite enjoyed John Leguizamo's performance in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, so he'll have to top that in order to impress me. What do you think?

Hailee is still young. In Romeo And Juliet with Leonardo Di Caprio from 1996, the woman playing juliet was 16/17 (i'm not kidding) lol.
