We just found out before the weekend that John Travolta and Uma Thurman would reunite again for Oliver Stone's developing adaptation of Don Winslow's novel Savages. Blake Lively was also confirmed to star in the film alongside Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Benicio del Toro and Selma Hayek. Now yet another great cast member has been tossed into the mix as Variety reports talented young actor Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer, Into the Wild) has also joined the cast. It's not mentioned what role Hirsch will be taking, but production is slated to start this summer. For those just joining us, you can find details on the story below.
The story follows two young, independent Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins (Kitsch and Johnson) who are blackmailed into working for the Baja Cartel after their girlfriend Ophelia (Lively) is kidnapped and held for a ransom of every last dollar they've made for the past five years. Travolta will play a burned out DEA agent named Dennis while Thurman plays Ophelia's mother. The meanwhile, Benicio del Toro is playing a cartel enforcer named Lado and Selma Hayek as a Mexican cartel queen-pin named Elena. Sounds pretty damn good to me and the cast just keeps getting better and better, too. Is anyone excited for Savages yet?
