Cabin in the Woods

Back in April, we got hope that the shelved horror flick Cabin in the Woods, directed by Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard and written by the filmmaker and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" mastermind Joss Whedon, might finally get sent to the big screen later this year. Lionsgate snagged the rights to distribute the film, and now we finally have our first look at what promises to be a new twist on the classic horror scenario of young people, including Thor star Chris Hemsworth, end up stranded in the woods when mysterious and even dangerous things begin to happen. See the first photo from the film below!

Here's the first look at Cabin in the Woods courtesy of Bloody Disgusting:

First Look: Cabin in the Woods

Obviously, it's some people in a cabin, and that cabin is more than likely stationed somewhere in the woods. But obviously the crew is captivated by something off-screen that has them all a little more than uneasy. Details on the films plot are pretty much non-existent at this point, but Bloody Disgusting has read the script and says that it will be Goddard's vision for the strange, bizarre screenplay that will allow this film to become a believable reality and potentially a great horror flick. Considering Goddard brought something fresh to the monster movie genre in writing Cloverfield, I have faith in his abilities, and can't wait to see how this turns out. We'll let you know as soon as we hear an official release date for the film, so stay tuned.

Well you know it ain't a true horror film if there isn't a guy in a letter jacket.

The film has already lived up to its title. Cabin? Check.

I'm gonna take a gander and assume that they are looking at the basement hatch čśŤ

Again a horror movie with teenagers in a cabin by the lake? Great.

This feels like the Duke Nukem Forever of horror films. It never gets realesed.

Ryderup on Jul 6, 2011

Too bad Duke Nukem Forever was released last month...

Yep, it was too bad. It sucked and had no magic left from DN3D.

Note to Hollywood: Don't be afraid to cast regular looking people in horror films, they don't always have to be the same cookie cutter good looking group.

Both this and Tucker & Dale vs Evil look good.

Dustin Asher on Jul 7, 2011

Tucker & Dale vs Evil is very good. This? Not so much...

What say this? A dastardly plot befalling us mere teenage mortals? I say verily unto that which torments this cabin!
