Henry's Crime Trailer

There were a few trailers we missed earlier in the week that weren't that good, but there is one I just need to post. It's called Henry's Crime and it's an indie crime comedy and the reason I'm posting this trailer late is because I have been asked numerous times "have you heard of that new Keanu Reeves film?" Yes, yes I have, it's titled Henry's Crime and I saw at the Toronto Film Festival last year and it was terrible, it sucked. I'm talking a top contender for one of the worst films of 2010 if I was making a list (which I'm not). I never wrote a review because I wanted to forget about it. But here's a UK trailer and they sell it pretty damn well.

Watch the first official UK trailer for Malcolm Venville's Henry's Crime:

[flv: 580 240]

After serving 3 years in prison for a bank robbery he didn't commit, an amiable but aimless man (Keanu Reeves) decides to rob the bank in downtown Buffalo, New York for real. His plan involves infiltrating a local theatre company, but his scheme gets complicated when he falls for the lead actress (Vera Farmiga).

Henry's Crime is directed by British filmmaker Malcolm Venville, of the indie 44 Inch Chest previously. The screenplay was co-written by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil) & David White (Undisputed II: Last Man Standing) from a story by Stephen Hamel and Sacha Gervasi. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2010 and was eventually picked up for US distribution by Moving Pictures Films. Henry's Crime doesn't have a US release date yet, so we'll let you know when it does. But I don't suggest anyone see it, it's that bad.

I read the script last year and it was truly awful. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I could not even finish it. Yet I was amazed to hear that Reeves had personally bought it to turn into a film. Now you're telling me it's THAT bad -- I'm not surprised.

Exactly... that's how I felt watching it: "Stupid, stupid, stupid!"

Alex Billington on Jan 8, 2011

I love the abundance of hatred for this movie. But at least Alex has seen it and can give a first hand opinion on it. Thanks for the trailer AND the head up. Looking forward to "Your Highness" to be totally honest. Planning to see "Blue Valentine" in Toronto tonight....can't wait!

Conrad The GREAT! on Jan 8, 2011

I like the idea, and it looks cool, and the side-characters look great, but Keanu just isn't doing it for me, but maybe that's the point? Dunno, anyways I'll check it out when it hits theaters or stream/download. Oh, just read your paragraph, and saw that you thought it sucked, would you please impart what made it so bad?

If you hated it so damn much why post it? that being said it dosen't look that great...damn you Billington for bringing me down!

i liked james caan in this - he's funny - "we do it the old fashioned way; we go in with guns!"........funny line! i like farmiga and reeves too - i'm sure it's not very good but i'll be checking it out on netflix just for the james caan scenes.

It's good to hear Sharon Jones' song 100 Days in the trailer, her voice is incredible. Check out the full version It looks watch-able enough on a late night

Not a huge fan of Reeves but this looks good.

i have no name on Jan 9, 2011

The idea sounds good, the lineup is just great (except i hate keanu reeves), but the suckiness shines through Keanus acting anyways. Wont see this. Or maybe just because Vera is hot.

If I had a dollar for every time that Billington has said something sucked and followed it up with no reason or explanation, I would have a buttload off dollars.
