Gerald McRaney and Samuel L. Jackson Both Join 'Django Unchained'
After being a staple, though not always an obvious one, in most of the films from Quentin Tarantino, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson will reunite with the writer/director yet again. Variety reports the actor will re-team with the filmmaker for a fifth time with a role in the spaghetti western Django Unchained. In the film, Jackson will play Stephen, a house slave and the right-hand man of a sadistic slavemaster. He only improves an already fantastic cast including Jamie Foxx as the titular freed slave, Leonardo DiCaprio as a ruthless plantation owner and Kevin Costner as his top henchman. More below!
In addition, another report says "Deadwood" star Gerald McRaney will saddle up for the western in an unspecified role. To recap, the story follows a freed slave named Django (Foxx) who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (who will played by Christoph Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself. Then after helping his German mentor, the two team-up to track down Django's slave wife and liberate her from a man named Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), who is a charming but ruthless plantation owner that Django must cross in order to get his wife back. This is already one of my most anticipated films of 2012.
Glad it's official now. Samuel L. Jackson will be awesome as Stephen. Can't wait to see how he plays it.

Holy effin sheiza. What a cast. Samuel l jackson and QT have a long history and have produced some decent movies so why not. Tarantino will always have a great ensemble cast but this combination of stellar actors will just flow together like honey.

McRaney is perfect for westerns. Sam Jackson is a nice bonus.

It's not a Tarantino movie without Sam Jackson and now it's official, I WILL be watching this in the theaters. Jury's still out if I'll be paying for it (one way or another....)

I gladly fork over the 20 or so bucks it'll cost in the theater. Great addition in McRaney. He was very imposing as Hearst in Deadwood. He can definitely hold his own against this amazing cast. And it was only a matter of time before Jackson joined, but I wish he was playing Django. I'm sure Foxx will be amazing though. Shnikeys I can't wait for this!
