After being offered and turning down a role in Snow White and the Huntsman, actor Hugh Jackman still has some time for a project to take on while a new director is being sought for The Wolverine after Darren Aronofsky's unfortunate exit from the production. Well, recently we heard that Shawn Levy was taking on the James Cameron-produced 3D remake of the 1966 flick Fantastic Voyage, and the director wants Jackman to lead it. Deadline says the actor is Levy's first choice to lead the story of a team of scientists shrunk to atomic size and sent on a miniature submarine inside the body of a scientist to save his life.
Levy and Jackman seem to have created quite a healthy working relationship after collaborating on Real Steel. A sequel is already being developed for the robot-boxing venture, and they're also supposed to work together again on some other new action adventure. Apparently Fantastic Voyage doesn't yet have a greenlight, but if Jackman boards and the new draft of the script is solid, then Fox shouldn't have a problem getting the project off the ground. As someone who's looking forward to Real Steel, I think Levy and Jackman working together again on a big 3D project from producer James Cameron sounds pretty damn great. How about you?

Besides the fact that hugh jackman is probably one of my top favorite actors, I'm just thrilled that they're FINALLY making Fantastic Voyage into a movie! I don't know if anyone has read the book, but it's a pretty good read. If the ball does get rolling on the film, I'm interested to see what scenes from the book will be incorporated in the movie and just how fantastical the CGI and special effects will be
