Though an already impressive cast has been assembled that includes Bill Nighy (Pirate Radio), Stanley Tucci (Easy A), Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge) and Nicholas Hoult (Clash of the Titans) as the titular hero, the cast of Jack the Giant Killer gets a little more impressive today. Heat Vision reports the masterful Ian McShane, who will next be seen as the infamous pirate Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has also joined the cast of Bryan Singer's action fantasy adventure. The story follows a farm boy (Nicholas Hoult) who leads an expedition to free a princess (Eleanor Tomlinson) taken hostage by a giant.
McShane will play King Brahmwell who isn't very pleased about his daughter getting caught up with a farm boy while the whole kidnapping situation threatens the uneasy peace between humans and giants. Tucci is playing a villain who is an adviser to the king who has his eyes on taking over the throne. The re-telling of the Jack and the Beanstalk fairytale has been gestating for quite some time, so it's great to see the project finally have some real legs with a great cast. In addition, it'll be good to have Singer back in the director's chair after three years. What do you think?

so if he's playing a king he won't get the chance to shout 'cocksucker', will he? sigh.

OK Lebowski....thanks for making me laugh at loud! I do appreciate Mr. McShane, I think he is brilliant. I will see this just for him. Singer on the other hand, well hopefully he has done research on the source material.
