In Los Angeles: Outdoor Cinema Food Fest Last Month of Screenings
by Alex Billington
July 29, 2011
We're admittedly a little late on this one, but barely we just found out about it this week while at a food truck! Running throughout this summer in Los Angeles has been a series of outdoor screenings of movies at various venues/parks that come complete with food trucks, pre-show live music and more. It's called the Outdoor Cinema Food Fest (official website) and they've been running since May, but the good news is that some of the best movies are yet to come, so listen up. Tomorrow is LA Confidential, then they've got Fargo, Fight Club, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Close Encounters all coming up the next few weeks.
This sounds awesome, I really need to go! You can find all the info about locations and more on the official website, but here's the last six screenings they're doing on Saturdays this summer around Los Angeles.
July 30th - LA Confidential - LA State Historic Park / Chinatown
August 6th - Fargo - Exposition Park / Near USC
August 13th - Fight Club - Exposition Park / Near USC
August 20th - Raiders of the Lost Ark - La Cienega Park / Beverly Hills
August 27th - Mamma Mia! (2008) - Hollywood Rec Center / Hollywood
September 3rd - Close Encounters - Northridge City Little League / Northridge
Doors are at 5:30PM, band starts at 6:30PM, movie starts at 8:30PM, tickets are $10 to get in and you can buy them online. This sounds like a great event to catch and I'm a bit sad I didn't hear about it earlier (they showed Goodfellas, The Matrix and Office Space earlier this summer!). Best of all, they've got awesome food trucks named Lee's Philly, The Poutine Truck, Cheeseball Wagon, India Jones, Munchie Machine and Da Burger Boss that are rolling in just to keep everyone well fed during the movie. Sounds delicious, I'm there!
Outdoor Cinema Food Fest is a summer event series featuring outdoor movies, live music and gourmet food trucks in rotating parks throughout Los Angeles. Dedicated to creating and nurturing a community of entertainment and food enthusiasts, Outdoor Cinema Food Fest promotes a cool environment to kick back and relax. Watch movies on the largest outdoor movie screen on the west coast, standing three stories tall and 52 feet wide. Let us know if you're attending or have been before. I'm going to try and make the last few.
