Magic Trip Trailer

"All you can do is experience this thing." It's time for an acid trip. Magnolia recently debuted this official trailer on Apple for the Alex Gibney & Alison Ellwood documentary Magic Trip, about the "LSD-fuelled cross-country road trip to the New York World's Fair" that Ken Kesey, author of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", took in 1964. It's comprised of "Kesey's footage, audio recordings, and photographs" to create a "fully immersive cinematic experience." This trailer makes it seem like this doc will be pretty wild, so see this only if you're stoner friend can tag along, because he'll love it. Check out the official trailer below!

Ever wonder what it’s like to drop acid? Look no further. In 1964, Ken Kesey, celebrated author of "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest", took a mythical excursion across America from the West to the East Coast.

Magic Trip was co-directed by Alex Gibney (Oscar winning director of Taxi to the Dark Side, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Casino Jack and the United States of Money, Freakonomics and Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer) & Alison Ellwood (editor/producer on Gibney's films like Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Gonzo, Casino Jack). This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Magnolia Pictures is bringing Magic Trip to limited theaters on August 5th this summer.

so this is The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test - the home movie? so it could be either a great, wild ride or as flat as *watching* people take drugs. but the directorial credits are impeccable, and when you couple them with the infamous subject matter, you can psychedelically colour me interested (man).

Never trust a hippie... But it'll probably be a fun watch in a time-wasting sort of way, so that everytime I watch someone bugging out on Ketamine I can thank these guys for starting the roller coaster.
