Isla Fisher in Talks to Join Baz Luhrmann's Version of 'Great Gatsby'
When the project returned to the news circuit after being announced two years ago Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire were reason enough to get excited about Baz Luhrmann's take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby. Then the lovely Carey Mulligan landed the role of Daisy Buchanan and most recently Ben Affleck came along to take the role of Tom Buchanan. You put all these names on a poster with just a picture of the book itself and audiences will flock to theaters. However, the cast keeps filling out as Heat Vision reports Australian raised actress Isla Fisher is also in talks to take on a role in the adaptation.
Fisher would be playing Myrtle Wilson, a character who has an affair with Tom Buchanan. Fans of the book know more about her part in the book, but we don't want to spoil anything for the young teens reading the book in school or anyone who hasn't yet read the seminal classic novel. With a filmmaker like Luhrmann behind the camera for an adaptation like this (and the prospect of shooting in 3D) this project should have plenty of eyes paying attention. As a fan of both Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet (though not Australia so much), this sounds great. As for Fisher's involvement, she's great in comedies like Hot Rod and Wedding Crashers, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she can do in a big project like this. What do you think?
Zero interest in Baz's take on Gatsby. His last film, Australia, was unwatchable.

Fisher as Myrtle? She couldn't be worse than Karen Black. http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsB/1587.gif

Isla Fisher has an amazing figure. I just love her curves. She’s so shapely. She’s a great example to real women around the country. She proves that curves really are sexy! I’m not skinny, I’m curvy, but I think that’s the best way to be. Womanly. It’s sexy! Isla Fisher recently gave birth to her second child and she had six movies for which principal photography was postponed until after she had given birth. I have a lot of respect for any actress who can make studio executives say “We really want her for this part – oh, she’s pregnant? That’s OK, we’ll wait.” and not just give the role to someone else.

I hope this movie does not Suck Balls. But Sadly, it will.

No, no, no, no, no. I don't think Isla will bring any of the character's real traits to the screen. She is definitely not the vision that Fitzgerald had for Myrtle.
