Rise of the Planet of the Apes

It's time. We heard last week that the first teaser trailer for Fox's newly titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes would be arriving sometime this week, but leading up to that debut, Fox has launched a series of small teases and events involving WETA Digital and beyond. First up, that new image above comes from their official website located at apeswillrise.com. Second, there's a "WETA reveal" of the completely CGI apes they've created that is a short 5-second clip (via Facebook) embedded below. It's a very impressive first look at the animals they've rendered for this movie. Plenty of details and more info about events this week below!

It seems like the teaser trailer will be arriving sometime in the next few days, as there's a big WETA Live: Apes Revealed event on Wednesday, April 13th, at 2:30PM PDT this week. They will give viewers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at their work on Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reality-based cautionary tale that blends science fiction and science fact. That's all that we've been told, but as always, follow their Facebook or Twitter as that's where any official updates will be hitting. Check out the WETA reveal clip:

Rise of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters everywhere August 5th this summer. In the film’s story, a single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other, and the Rise of the Planet of the Apes!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set in contemporary San Francisco and follows a young scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes. Franco has been testing his Alzheimer cure on apes, but one of them, named Caesar, starts to evolve rapidly, so he takes him home to live with him and protect him from the "cruel doctors," thus starting the inevitable ape revolution. James Franco stars, along with Andy Serkis providing motion capture for Caesar and Weta doing CGI, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and Tom Felton. We'll let you know when the first Rise of the Apes trailer is revealed - stay tuned!

The point is that there are not enough comments featuring the names of highly (in)significant Armenians at FirstShowing.net.

if the rest of the movie lives up to these 5 seconds, this is a benchmark in animation. but, i'll hold til we see these things moving more than their eyes. still, completely incredible

Actually, Alex, there's people here who already saw "The Dark Knight Rises" (and love it...) "Man Of Steel" (it sucks, by the way...), they saw "Green Lantern" (Ryan Raynols is pretty anoying and the movie was O.K.... but the sequel is waaaay better), "Thor" (lausy Power Ranger's action flick), and etc.

The apes are metaphores for black people, not sure if anyone knew the original authors views.

Niggasaywhat? on Apr 12, 2011

The Original author had laid down a warning back in the 70's so people would hopefully understand our future. As of now his warning is not being noticed and the blacks will be the majority sooner or later in america and you all know what that means!! By by america, well, it's actually to late but I had some good times in this country when I was younger.

Didn't see much wrong with Burtons film or how they did the makeup there - perfect makeup. This 5sec clips looks great but I bet you it would have worked better with makeup in the end.

Yes, you're right. Even with all that hair, I still wanted to do Helena Bonham Carter's Ari ape.
