Jason Schwartzman Back with Wes Anderson for 'Moonrise Kingdom'

Jason Schwartzman

Last November we found out a stellar cast featuring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and regular Wes Anderson collaborator Bill Murray had all joined the filmmaker's next film Moonrise Kingdom. Now another familiar face has joined the ranks as the Providence area Examiner learned from The Rhode Island Film & Television Office that Jason Schwartzman will be part of the production when the film shoots this spring in Rhode Island. The actor has appeared in about half of Anderson's films, but whenever they work together on the big screen, it's gold, so this is simply great all around.

Though we still don't have details on Schwartzman's character, when we initially heard about the project it was said to follow two young adults who fall in love and run away in the 60's. Assuming that the lovers have disappeared, the leaders of their New England town go searching for them. Norton is playing a scout leader who brings his expertise to the search while Willis will play a character having an affair with McDormand's character, the missing girl's mother. Murray, on the other hand, will play the girl's father who, of course, has his own issues. We still don't what role Ms. Swinton will be taking. Of course, I wouldn't need any story details to be excited about another Wes Anderson film, especially with a cast like this. How about you?

Hey Ethan, FYI. Schwartzman has only been in 3 of Anderson's 6 feature films. In addition to The Life Aquatic and Bottle Rocket, Schwartzman also did not appear in The Royal Tenembaums. Hooray for nerds!

Actually, Cdbruno is correct. In a fleeting instant I always seem to remember that Jason Schwartzman was in Royal Tenenbaums just because he would fit in the cast so perfectly, but alas he is not. And as far as his cameo as one of the tennis commentators, the two voices are actually Wes Anderson himself and Andrew Wilson (brother of Luke and Owen Wilson) though many other people have though it was Schwartzman doing the part as well.

He was NOT the voice of the announcer during the tennis match (although it is a common misconception). Wes Anderson himself was the voice.
