Jason Segel Going Back to the 80's for 'Undercover Cop' Comedy

Even if we haven't heard anymore solid information about a new Beverly Hills Cop, that doesn't mean the spirit of the 1980's police comedy is dead. As a matter of fact, it's being resurrected in quite the promising fashion as Risky Biz reports Jason Segel will lead Undercover Cop, the true story of a former cop that infiltrated the New Jersey criminal underworld in the decade of bad hair. Though no details on the actual plot are known at this time, the prospect of Segel going undercover with a jean jacket and feathered hair is hilarious. Toss in a soundtrack with the tunes of Journey or Bon Jovi and we've got a winner on our hands.
The premise for the new DreamWorks project comes from an idea from Garrett Basch, an executive at screenwriter Steven Zaillian's Film Rites production company. No writer or director is yet attached, but since Segel is one of the best comedic actors working today, it shouldn't be hard to get some great people together and make this project shine. In addition, Segel's star power is likely only going up with his work on The Muppets hitting theaters in November and a turn in the raunchy comedy Bad Teacher coming in June. Honestly I'm looking forward to any comedy with Segel involved. How about you?

I'm looking forward to it. I watched Army of Darkness night before last and kept thinking who could be Ash in a remake (not that I want one) but Segel kept coming to my mind for some reason.

I'm in. Segal will bring back the 80's convincingly just as Stallone did with The Expendables.
