The actor was already quite a formidable opponent in No Country for Old Men, but now Javier Bardem is heading into the animated world to cause a little bit of chaos. Heat Vision has word that the Oscar-winning Spanish actor will voice the new villain in Universal and Illumination Entertainment's sequel Despicable Me 2. The only details on his character at this time have pegged him as being named El Macho and he even has a son aptly named Machito. Other than those facts, the plot for the sequel is being kept under tight wraps, though most of the cast from the first film, including star Steve Carell are expected to return.
In the first film, Carell played the super-villain Gru facing off against Vector (voiced by Jason Segel), but his evil plans became less important when three orphan girls came into his life and warm his heart and win his affections. It'll be interesting to see what Gru is up to after seemingly stepping down as a bad guy. I'm betting that El Macho's son likely ends up involved with the three girls somehow, and that's how Gru and this new villain end up facing off. Despicable Me was a surprise hit last year, and while I can't say that I loved the film, there has been far worse family fare hitting theaters and Bardem can only help the sequel.
