Jeffrey Dean Morgan Starring in Ghost House Thriller 'Dibbuk Box'

Late last year, right around the time when Paranormal Activity 2 was destroying the box office, we wrote about a new project in the works called Dibbuk Box. I thought it might be another found-footage thriller, but it looks like Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal is going to direct a straight horror, as described, closer to The Exorcist or The Shining. Well, Variety reports that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in the film as a recently divorced father whose youngest daughter becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. Yep, she got a hold of that Dibbuk Box, and the spirit inside ain't too happy.
As his daughter's behavior becomes more erratic, he senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box contains a dibbuk -- a "dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host." And supposedly it's inspired by true events. Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures is producing and filming starts this month. Lionsgate already has Dibbuk Box set for release on Halloween weekend, October 28th, in place of the Saw films which, hopefully, have finally finished. For all the fans of the horror genre, this definitely sounds like a film to keep an eye on, especially with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the lead. Stay tuned for more!

well, he's good; but, i wouldn't call Javier Bardem a "full-price" purchase. he's had a couple of good roles but i wouldn't put him in the elite class of actors.

this sounds good. and if it resembles "exorcist" or "the shining", it can't be bad........can it? hey, as long as we're on horror - i just watched "the horde" last night - a real fun zombie movie. it has english subtitles so anyone put off by that should stay away.

INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS! Yeah, right. We've all heard that before. You know, 'MOBY DICK' was inspired by 'True Events' in that a 80 ft. Sperm Whale rammed a whaling ship which sank due to the damage. Its just that all the other stuff-everything other than a big whale ramming a ship-was fiction. So I'm gonna go out on a limb and deduce that the 'Real Event' in this movie was a girl buying an old jewlery box. Word.
