They first worked together on Quentin Tarantino's gritty drama Pulp Fiction and then followed up in a more disappointing fashion with Be Cool. But now Uma Thurman and John Travolta will be together on screen yet again as Deadline reports the two stars have joined Oliver Stone's adaptation of Savages based on Don Winslow's novel on the same name. In addition, Blake Lively is officially signing on to star in the film after hearing she was the top contender for the role earlier this month. However, it's unclear if taking this role will end up keeping her from also starring in Oz: The Great and Powerful for director Sam Raimi.
In Savages, the story follows two young, independent Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins (Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson) who are blackmailed into working for the Baja Cartel after their girlfriend Ophelia (Lively) is kidnapped and held for a ransom of every last dollar they've made for the past five years. Travolta will play a burned out DEA agent named Dennis while Thurman plays Ophelia's mother. The two also join Benicio del Toro playing a cartel enforcer named Lado and Selma Hayek as a Mexican cartel queen-pin named Elena. Just the prospect of this cast coming together sounds a lot more exciting than the snoozefest that was Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and there's still more casting to be done. Interested?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. An Oliver Stone movie isn't exactly a Quentin Tarantino movie. Lose the false headline.
