His film The Catechism Cataclysm debuted at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year (unfortunately we missed it), but now director Todd Rohal is ready to begin production on yet another new comedy this week. Deadline has word that Rohal will be at the helm of an untitled comedy, which he also wrote himself under the title Scout Master, which will pair Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt on the big screen for the first time. The duo will play battling brothers who attempt to honor their ailing father by taking a troop of boys on a camping trip. Of course, everything goes wrong and hilarity ensues.
Rob Riggle (Step Brothers), Maura Tierney ("ER") and comedian Patrice O'Neal also star in the film that is likely a lower budget comedy that could end up hitting the festival circuit next year. The pairing of a comedic genius like Oswalt with someone like Knoxville who is more funny doing crazy stunts than acting in comedies seems strange, but Rohal must have seen some real chemistry between to the two in order to pair them up in a comedy. Since I haven't seen The Catechism Cataclysm yet, I can't say I'm excited to see more from Rohal, but the premise and cast have at least gotten my attention so far. What about you guys?
