Julia Roberts Cast in Yet Another 'Snow White' Project at Relativity

Julia Roberts / Snow White

Ohh this is getting confusing. We've got the Michael Arndt-scripted Snow and the Seven at Disney, possibly with Natalie Portman; then there's Rupert Sanders's Snow White and the Huntsman, with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen; and finally, there is Relativity's Brothers Grimm: Snow White, being directed by Tarsem Singh, which Vulture reports is pretty much confirmed to include Julia Roberts in the cast as the Evil Queen, or at least she's in negotiations. In related news, THR claims Kristen Stewart is closer than ever to playing Snow White in Universal's Huntsman. These three can't all be made, can they?

In Tarsem's version of Brothers Grimm: Snow White, the story starts off with the evil stepmother (Roberts) killing Snow White's father and destroying the kingdom. Then Snow White must team-up with the infamous dwarves to reclaim what is rightly hers. We don't know who's playing Ms. White in this one yet, but it looks like Julia Roberts is closer than ever to be confirmed for her role as the Evil Queen, which should be exciting to see. I'm more interested in seeing Julia Roberts as a villain in a Tarsem movie than I am seeing Charlize Theron play the same villain in Snow White and the Huntsman, which doesn't seem too interesting anyway. There are just too many Snow White films in the works and honestly, audiences won't want to see all three.

Talk about milking a formula to death. I wonder if this has anything to do with finding the next Potter or something?

This is the one I'm most excited about, Singh has a great vision in his films and I think it'll be awesome to see Roberts as a villain. She's always been America's Sweetheart so this will be a project to keep an eye on.

Julia Roberts time was back in the 1990's - audiences are bored with her. Fail. Rather see Theron in the role.

It would be interesting, though, if a studio released three versions of the same story at the same time with each being made by a different filmmaker with a different style telling the same story from the perspective of three characters. Sure, it was a big risk of being hokey and gimmicky, but on the off chance that they could pull it off, it could be really interesting.
