Captain America Trailer

"Just a kid from Brooklyn!" Marvel and Paramount have unveiled the second official trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger, starring Chris Evans and directed by Joe Johnston, and yes it's frickin' awesome! This is the second full theatrical trailer following the initial teaser debuted back in March, so this has certainly been a long time coming, but it's definitely making the end of this summer look like it'll go out with a bang. The cast includes Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper, Sebastian Stan and Toby Jones. I cannot wait, this looks so amazing.

Paramount is bringing Captain America to theaters starting on July 22nd this summer.

14

As a tool fan I am very pleased they chose a song that goes along with the idea of the movie. Also to everyone saying they gave away the entire movie, yeah they gave away some key bits, but there's still a ton left unsaid and seriously: Are you going to a marvel movie for the story or the experience?

Dhruv Govil on Jun 24, 2011

15

For those confused, the song on the trailer is "Forty Six & 2" by Tool. Great song.

All you know about them's what they've sold you.

Andre on Jun 24, 2011

Erm, that'd be "All you know about me's what I sold you." and that's Hooker with a Penis, not Forty-Six & 2...

Here would be my bet (based purely off the trailer) - Little scrawny kid wants to join the military but he can't because he isn't big enough. Because of his heart he is incredibly persistent. He tries to enlist in multiple cities. Finally a genius doctor takes notice and helps him to enlist into a super soldier program. Because of his guts, heart, and character, they allow him to be the first to test the "super soldier" procedure. As soon as the procedure works on him a nazi bad guy blows up the facility, thus destroying the super soldier program. Instead of having an army of this new bread of soldier they only get one. He is promoted to Captain and will lead a unit against this nazi scientist madman - redskull. The scientist chick and him fall in love. She is something like his "handler" and helps him understand his missions. With him unit defeated, Captain America defeats Redskull and his minions on his own. My guess on how it ends: Girl is lost, Captain America gets stuck in something that freezes him in time (thus setting up the Avengers movie that takes place 50 years later). I've never read a Captain America comic, this is all a guess based on knowledge put out through the trailer. How'd I do?

Zirk on Jun 24, 2011

sounds about right. i too, know nothing about captain america.

quityosleanin on Jun 24, 2011

26

well done sir, now i really wanna see this

Angelfigueroa81 on Jun 24, 2011

27

I don't think you've got the ending right at all. (although you could've) They've hinted repeatedly at another 1940s Captain America movie - How on earth would they make that if they freeze him at the end of the very first movie? Tbh, I hope you're right and they just leave it at the one prequel but i'm not sure they will...

I didn't like the modern music over a period piece. When I think Captain America I think of large brass orchestras and drums, not deep bass lines by Tool...  BUT I did like the pacing of the trailer, I think there's still a lot to be seen. I'm not one of those people who thinks a 2:30 minute trailer gives away everything and I was really pleased by the moment where Steve jumps on the grenade to show that being a hero is actions not powers. Tucci looks great in it as well.

Jalts4 on Jun 24, 2011

46

Terrible music.  Red Skull reminds me of The mask. I laugh every time i see it. And the whole "I was weak and short" part is so over done. Any shorter and its like hes going to be in the hobbit....

Anonymous on Jun 24, 2011

47

Oh, well, allow me to retort.   The song 46 and 2 is well known for being one of the greatest rock bass performances ever and is about next step of human evolution... DNA being reorganized into 46 and 2 chromosomes. This song from the album Enima and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, went triple platinum and has sold 3,429,000 copies in the US alone.   Any time a movie has skull character it will resemble the mask because it will have the same features of a "Skull"   If Cap was any taller he wouldn’t have been rejected from the military. At the time they were accepting most.  He had to have several reasons i.e. short, weak, and asthmatic.   Your comment is uneducated biased vomit.

McWilly on Jun 24, 2011

48

Uneducated? Vomit? do you have any idea what i do for a living? And most importantly, who the fuck are you to mouth of like that?  a) The music does not fit to the trailer, imo. hence terrible music. If I think tool is good or not has nothing to do with that statement. If you think the track works in trailer, then thats your opinion.  b) No, that particular mask reminded me of the mask. Not every "skull" design reminds me of that. I watched it, thought of it and posted it as my first reaction. c) I know the story. But it seemed to be overdone, judging from the trailers. It's my own taste, if you think he doesn't look to small then that's your thing... The only thing that makes me vomit is your need to 'retort' on something thats purely opinion based. Really, what the fuck do the sale numbers have to do that the track took me out of the trailer? Your comment makes you look like a narcissistic ahole.

Buzzfunk on Jun 24, 2011

49

give away the entire movie? shit I could watch the first 10 min of just about any hollywood movie and tell you the whole story without seeing a trailer. good guy wins bad guy loses. pretty simple. the question for me is what can they do with a story that I already know the outcome. not something you can tell from a trailer.

Kinda excited for this film. Don't ask me why. I didn't see Thor or the X-Men flicks... I don't know if I want o see Green Lantern's, but I presume this film will be the best fanboy-film of the summer.

Manuel on Jun 24, 2011

63

what? this movie is directed by the guy who killed the awesome dinosaurs by directing Jurassic Park iii and destroyed the Jurassic Park trilogy's reputation, a masterpiece that Steven Spielberg created? I'm starting to cry already.... Captain America is accidentally sent to the gallows....

Nsypiecco on Jun 24, 2011

66

This is leaps and bounds better than the other trailers. However, just something about it feels cheesy to me. In addition, I don't care so much for Chris Evens. Couldn't they have picked a more authentic actor? One that hadn't already been a superhero, and an annoying one at that? I'm hoping it is good.

Guy on Jun 24, 2011

67

This looks so damn neat. The more I see, the more I get that exciting feeling. The grenade part? Holy shit, they are seriously fleshing out Cap in this. I fucking love the guy already!

Cracky on Jun 24, 2011

68

Not going to watch this trailer. I feel the 'FINAL' trailer always reveals too much about it. It's one thing to try and introduce a new, original film, but it's not like you have to win over audiences to go see Captain 'Fuckin' America! I'm psyched to see it.

So how the hell will the Avengers movie work if Captain America is pretty much in the old times since they are asking Tony Starks dad about the suit he would be mad old...

Kris Bissell on Jun 24, 2011

71

In the comics Cap is frozen in an iceberg at the end of world war 2 and thawed out in modern times, something about the super-solider serum letting him hibernate for that long.

Staatz on Jun 24, 2011

72

So how the hell does it work when people make stupid ass comments about movie trailers based on comic books, and they don't even bother to google the storyline from the comics so they can speak with at least a modicum of intelligence? Oh...just like this.

Not true! The verdict is not in for, "Captain America" and "Cowboys and Aliens", yet! "X-Men: First Class" was actually good and, "Thor" was better than expected. "Green Lantern", left a lot to be desired, though!

Interesting. It looks like its going to be okay. As a HUGE A-cap fan, I'll be giving this one my all powerful eye when it comes out, and will be deeply scarred if it does not deliver. Looks like it's TRYING to stay true to the storyline though. I wanna see him end up on ice in the end though.
