Matthew Goode in Talks for to Star in Chan-wook Park's Film 'Stoker'
Some casting worth reading. Variety is reporting that British actor Matthew Goode, seen in Match Point, The Lookout, A Single Man, Watchmen as Ozymandias, is now in talks to star in Stoker, the first English-language film from South Korean filmmaker Chan-wook Park (Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance, Thirst). The indie drama is also set to star Mia Wasikowska as a moody teenager whose mysterious uncle comes back into her family's lives after the death of her father. The cast will also include Nicole Kidman and was supposed to have Colin Firth starring as well, but Goode is taking his "mysterious uncle" role instead.
The project was supposed to already be shooting and is a high priority for Fox Searchlight, where it's being developed. Tony & Ridley Scott are producing at Scott Free along with Michael Costigan. "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller wrote the script under the pseudonym "Ted Foulke". Variety includes that Goode is still not 100% confirmed, as this particular role "has been a hot item among many leading men in Hollywood", with others like James Franco, Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton taking an interest. However, given he's "in talks", it sounds like this is about as close as we can get and he's probably playing the part. I wouldn't have minded Colin Firth, but Goode is an underrated talent and a welcomed alternative.

So he's finally making the jump to Hollywood is he? Well color me excited, lets just hope that he manages to maintain his artistic integrity. Because I can't imagine Fox Searchlight is investing in this and hoping for hammer assaults, incest and tongue mutilation, though hopefully the Scott's have his back.
