The Ledge Trailer

"God… help me." Matthew Chapman's The Ledge is the first of a couple of "on the ledge" thrillers coming up featuring various people about to jump to their deaths and the people that try and talk them down. This one, which premiered at Sundance this year, is the more religious one that touches upon life and death and God and so on. Yahoo has debuted the official trailer for The Ledge, which stars Charlie Hunnam, Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler and Terrence Howard. Sadly, I heard some awful reviews at Sundance, like one of the worst films of the fest, so I stayed away. This trailer doesn't do much to change my mind, either.

Watch the first official trailer for Matthew Chapman's The Ledge from YouTube:

You can watch The Ledge official trailer in High Definition on Yahoo

A thriller in which a battle of philosophies between a fundamentalist Christian and an atheist escalates into a lethal battle of wills. As Hollis (Howard) tries to persuade Gavin (Hunnam) not to jump, each man begins to open up about his past, and we discover that neither of them is convinced his life is worth living.

The Ledge is both written and directed by Matthew Chapman, a writer who hasn't helmed anything since 1988, but directed films like Heart of Midnight, Strangers Kiss and Hussy in the 80s. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year. IFC Films is bringing The Ledge to VOD and theaters starting June 29th.

Who cuts these trailers? There are a load of plot points they could have left out there. Looks alright though in a tv movie sorto way.

Is this part of that reverse "Left Behind" series?

josef on May 3, 2011

i think it looks pretty good

Wwww on May 3, 2011

how can you say "meh" on this trailer, and put "must watch" on that piece of shit trailer for "the troll hunter"

Wwww on May 3, 2011

Trollhunter is actually a really good film. This, however, is terrible.

Go Charlie Hunnam!

Dominic on May 3, 2011

I was looking forward to Liv Tyler's return to the big screen. Too bad about the bad reviews.

Cinema Nostalgia on May 3, 2011

Great to see Charlie Hunnam in a movie, but I THOUGHT THE SAD LOOKING BEARD was just for Sons of Anarchy.. Come on! 😛 Doesnt look that bad. I love stories about scary god-people, cos i find all real believers to be very scary.

'The Ledge', genius!

Everyone dies

I got bored within the first 30 seconds of this trailer and went back on facebook...Maybe it was the mood I was in, but maybe this movie just doesn't look appealing at all.

Why is it that Hollywood almost always make Christians, or any religious people for that matter, ummm..crazy? I'm a Christian myself and I find it quite tiring. I mean everyone feels angry and vengeful sometimes, that's just human nature but don't pretend likes its some mission from God. We're not all zealots y'know. I'll watch the movie for the casting, from redbox maybe.

Lamar on May 3, 2011

I have no idea. It gets old. I've know crazy fundamentalists in my day, but I've known more profound, kind people who seemingly embody their religious values without preaching. They were just doers. But, if Hollywood can't turn someone into a complicated mess they must think the movie isn't worth watching. Anyway, film looks rather bland. Too much in the trailer (Way too busy).

Quanah on May 6, 2011

I completely agree with you, LAMAR. How many times does Hollywood have to run around this religious merry-go-round of crazies? I'm a fan of Liv Tyler but I don't think I'll be watching this one.

Jules on May 4, 2011

wow looks good

A5J4DX on May 3, 2011

Interesting, but I just want Sons of Anarchy to return already.

Johnny Neat on May 4, 2011

Maybe because the religious already show a disconnect from logic and reason, so its a smaller step for them to go over the edge (...or ledge)

Scott Ezell on May 4, 2011

looks good, really makes me wonder about the bad reviews tho.

Barbara Ruiz on May 11, 2011

Charlie Hunnam should be more selective in his "off Season" work! As everyone knows, he is one excellent actor! I agree with the other post, can we FF to the 4th Season of SOA??
