Michelle Rodriguez

Back in August it was confirmed that director Paul W.S. Anderson would again be working with his wife and frequent collaborator Milla Jovovich for Resident Evil: Retribution, yet another sequel in the video game franchise. At the time it was said Jill Valentine would be brought back in some capacity, and despite previous reports, Sienna Guillory will be reprising the role. Now Bloody Disgusting has word on another returning character with Michelle Rodriguez coming back as Rain Ocampo. Fans will remember that the character met her end after being turned into a zombie and subsequently killed, so what's the deal?

Well, it sounds like the film will be employing some flashbacks to come full circle with a bit of Alice's (Jovovich) backstory. This makes sense considering Shawn Roberts is also expected to have a cameo as Albert Wesker. Either way, the returning cast will also be joined by Barry Burton, a member of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) and Leon Scott Kennedy, a U.S. Government agent, and previously an officer for the Raccoon City Police Department. Filming will take place in Toronto, Japan and Russia and Screen Gems is bring the movie to theaters on September 14th, 2012.

Colin Salmon, And Michelle Rodriguez. Yes! Just what I was hoping for! Some Raccoon City, Backstory and some major plot tie ins.

Why does this movie need plot tie-ins? last time I saw a resident evil movie it was like watching the cousin of a Michael bay movie. No story anymore, no horror, just shot guns filled with coin shot and a D-T-Virused Alice who still fights at super human level. This is just getting Regoddamndiculous okay.  It's sad these movies didn't follow the games more closely cause the games were amazing.

Milla Jovovich also twitted about Oded Fehr returning to the franchise... exciting, but there's a big question mark on my head about their roles in the film...

Worthless movie. You don't get scared because the hero has some superpowered abilities. Where's the survival in survival horror?
