We Bought a Zoo

"We bought a zoo!" That's one of little Rosie Mee's amusing lines from the film and it'll stick with you for a long time after you see it. While I wouldn't normally post about every sneak preview setup by Hollywood, this is one I will go out of my way to mention because I truly love this film. I caught Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo, starring Matt Damon as Benjamin Mee, at its first sneak preview after Thanksgiving, and fell completely head-over-heels for it. Now Fox is hosting an additional set of sneak previews this Saturday (tomorrow), December 10th, and if you haven't seen this yet but are feeling the buzz, it's totally worth it.

The news originally comes from Deadline. 20th Century Fox is hosting more sneak previews of Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo this weekend in 800 theaters in the US and Canada this Saturday. Fox believes that "word of mouth this holiday season will be key to winning the box office derby." That may certainly be the case this year, especially when it's incredibly positive word-of-mouth, like what I've been passing along to everyone I know. After this weekend's sneak previews (if you can't make it), the film will officially open in regular theaters everywhere starting on Wednesday, December 23rd, this crowded holiday movie season.

We Bought a Zoo, based on the real-life memoirs of Benjamin Mee, is about a father who moves his two young kids to a struggling, small rural zoo in Southern California, where he goes nearly broke trying to fix and open it with his family and the staff. The cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning, Thomas Haden Church, Patrick Fugit and John Michael Higgins, as well as Colin Ford and Maggie Elizabeth Jones as Ben's kids, Dylan and Rosie. I cannot suggest seeing this movie enough, it's one of my favorites of the year, Jonsi's score for it is amazing, the story is wonderful and emotional, it's just the feel good film of the 2011 holiday!

I saw this yesterday and will probably pay to see it again in the theater I enjoyed it so much.

How does one find out where the early screenings are going to be?

Check nearby at your local theaters. It's showing in 800 theaters, so it's fairly widespread. If not at the nearest theater, likely the next one. I'm not sure there is a full list available.
