Mother-Smurfin' Crazy Theatrical Trailer for 'The Smurfs' Movie

Our turf is about to get Smurf'd! I was considering writing this entire Smurfin' post using "Smurf" in place of as many words as I could but realized you guys would get really Smurfin' tired of that pretty Smurf. Sony has debuted the first full theatrical trailer for their CGI-hybrid summer comedy The Smurfs, starring Neil Patrick Harris, Glee star Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria as Gargamel. The voices for the Smurfs range from Katy Perry as Smurfette to also Alan Cumming, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, B.J. Novak and even Jeff Foxworthy. I don't know if I can say this looks good, but it definitely does look pretty Smurf'd up. Have fun!

The Smurfs is directed by veteran family filmmaker Raja Gosnell, of Home Alone 3, Never Been Kissed, Big Momma's House, Scooby-Doo 1 & 2, Yours, Mine and Ours, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The screenplay was co-written by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss (of The Rugrats Movie, Jimmy Neutron, Clockstoppers, Shrek 2, Are We There Yet?, Daddy Day Camp) and is based on the tiny little characters created by Belgian artist Peyo. Katy Perry voices Smurfette, Paul Reubens voices Jokey Smurf, B.J. Novak voices Baker Smurf and Jeff Foxworthy voices Handy Smurf. Sony is bringing The Smurfs to theaters in 3D August 3rd, 2011.

it actually looked like it could be funny untill all the slogans started unleashing them selves, and the smurfs started making smurf related jokes, then it was just 'no, go away'

huh, well I guess they'll have to do a movie for the Snorks next ~snear~. I suppose this is for kids, so kids can have it. I'll have much better things to watch this summer.

There was absolutely nothing funny at all in that trailer and they're the best bits! Woefully bad.

Looking at the trailer for this upcoming Smurfs Movie just leaves me a little bit disgusted. To take a great franchise like The Smurfs and turn it into this, is just a disgrace. I'm sure its going to be a major boom for the studio, their going to clean up on merchandising alone, but is it right. Kids nowadays might just think it stinks, but the people that remember the Smurfs I'm sure are going to be cringing the whole time. Check out my blog on the upcoming Smurfs Movie and the corresponding Hollywood greed sickness that has infected films these days at...... http://www.gosellcrazy.com/2011/03/smurfs-big-screen-odd-fashion/
