Drive Trailer

"What do you do?" "I drive." Here it is, the trailer everyone must watch for one of the year's best films. IGN has posted the first official red band trailer for the new Ryan Gosling film Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (of Pusher, Bronson), that also stars Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, Christina Hendricks and Albert Brooks. If you recall, this was my favorite film of the Cannes Film Festival (read my glowing review) and will definitely be one of my favorites of the year. It's just awesome and I'm so glad we finally have a trailer to show everyone how great this is. Stop and check it out!

Watch the first fantastic red band trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive:

A Hollywood stunt driver (played by Ryan Gosling) who usually keeps to himself and moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him by a local mob boss after a heist that goes wrong.

Drive is directed by Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, of the Pusher trilogy, Bronson and Valhalla Rising previously. The screenplay was written by Hossein Amini (The Four Feathers, Killshot, 47 Ronin), adapted from James Sallis' novel. This first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where Refn went on to win Best Director. FilmDistrict will be releasing Drive in theaters everywhere on September 16th this fall.

gosling has been one of those consistent actors for a wile, this is his time to shine i say golden glob for sure, id say oscer but they only give those out for playing retards and drug attics. im also calling best picture, nice post alex

You think? I don't think this movie has the pontential to grant gosling an award as big as the globe or oscar, it just doesn't feel like one of those movies. Its just that we aren't used to seeing actors like him in movies like these.

i know what you mean but hes got 3 great movies coming out just this year and all different in tone this will be the one every one loves but cant nominate because action movies never get the nod even tho it does have this nice good fellas, james dean feel , but it will nudge them to nominate for "the ideas of march" witch is already looking to take a movie of the year slot as well, award shows across the board will not over look gosling im sure of it

And why was this a "red band" trailer? Did I miss something?

Ryanr1024 on Jul 22, 2011

It's just because of the MPAA... If there is ANY blood on ANYONE in a trailer, you can't show it. I just think they didn't want to censor the blood or digitally alter any scenes just to appease the MPAA for a green band.

Pause it after Ryan's character says "do you remember this?" but before the man he is going to put the bullet into says "no".   -On a side note, it is nice to see Bryan Cranston in something that looks better than The Lincoln Lawyer and Larry Crowne.

Man, that's really fucked.  I didn't know that.  Well, at least this isn't Aussieland, and we can play any videogame we want.

Didn't even realize that this had such an awesome supporting cast.  I'm even more pumped after seeing this ridiculously awesome trailer.

Gosling is a studmuffin and a great actor but Nicolas Winding Refn has done some other great movies (Bronson and Valhalla Rising).  So with those two together this should be incredible.

I hate the mob, it looks like they get screwed over pretty good in this. Anyone who bullies people into things deserves a hammer to face. This looks good

Crapola on Jul 22, 2011

26

I hate the mob, too.  And the government, although the government actually serves a purpose, even as corrupt as it is.

JL on Jul 22, 2011

27

yep, the government is like a bigger mob, but they don't have to go to jail for all the people they fleece. Neither do the mob either I suppose. Hollywood does put a bit of glamour into the intimidation and robbery of the poorest of people with the mafia rubbish, people seem to enjoy it enough though.

Crapola on Jul 23, 2011

transporter-ish?

Campaign for Gosling as next Batman starts here! Plus this movie looks fantastic, glad to see Gosling doing more stuff, his name is like a gold seal of approval he seems to have a good eye for great roles.

Dirk Diggler on Jul 22, 2011

30

Okay, Photoshop the Cowl over his face, then.  I'd like to see that.  We know he has the acting ability.

JL on Jul 23, 2011

31

Yeah, me too, but I'll have to say this: I'll never be able to watch Transporter again after this.  This looks too damn awesome.

JL on Jul 22, 2011

32

Why did Hugh Jackman turn the role down?

AHox on Jul 22, 2011

33

cause he knew he wasnt worthy of it

Danimal on Jul 22, 2011

34

dont know why but i feel like the concept came from the TRANSPORTER movies...

Sarah on Jul 23, 2011

35

Nope, it came from a book published in 2005. It's a loose adaptation, but this has nothing to do with the Transporter movies AT ALL. No similarities besides the fact that someone drives a car.

Alex Billington on Jul 23, 2011

Anyone remember The Driver with Ryan O`Neal? This looks awesome

Love it! Ryan's character reminds me of Stallone in cobra with that stick in his mouth.

This looks better than I was expecting. Yes I remember The Driver, also a good film. An early Walter Hill film.
