The Devil's Double Trailer

"Without me you are nothing!" Are you ready for your first glimpse at "Scarface of Arabia"? Yahoo has debuted the official trailer for The Devil's Double, the Lee Tamahori-directed flick starring Dominic Cooper as crazed eccentric Uday Hussein and his double Latif Yahia. I didn't know what to expect with this and I'm sure most of you don't either, but trust me when I say you must watch this trailer, it looks frickin' awesome, can't wait to see it. Lionsgate picked up this film at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and wants to make a hit out of it, which I think it has the potential for. Fire up the badass new trailer below.

Watch the official trailer for Lee Tamahori's The Devil's Double from YouTube:

A chilling vision of the House of Saddam Hussein comes to life through the eyes of the man who was forced to become the double of Hussein's sadistic son. Based on Latif Yahia's memoirs, starring Dominic Cooper.

The Devil's Double is directed by veteran action filmmaker Lee Tamahori, director of The Edge, Mulholland Falls, Along Came a Spider, Die Another Day, xXx: State of the Union and Next previously. The screenplay was written by Michael Thomas, of Ladyhawke, Backbeat, Welcome to Woop Woop and B. Monkey. It's based on on Latif Yahia's memoirs first published in 1997. Lionsgate picked this up during the Sundance Film Festival this year. They'll be bringing The Devil's Double to limited theaters on July 29th. Look good?

Looks awesome... but it was confusing. I had no idea who I was watching when it only showed one of the two on screen at a time.

3

Same here. Howzabout making one of them look slightly different than the other? That said...from the director of "xXx: State of the Union" is kind of a huge red flag.

That was weird, I kept thinking it was a spoof comedy, but then it would go pretty dark and serious, will be watching it for sure. Saddam was pretty eccentric with all those strange fantasy art paintings he had in his house, kind of like when sports stars get money and have really bad taste but much more inflated. "You gotta have the Scarface poster...".

Nice propaganda bullshit!!!!.... It makes you feel how corrupt, brutal and cruel the Iraqi government was (which by the way was put in place by the west), so its "OK" to invade Iraq... While forgetting the real reasons like WMD, which was never found...

23

are you kidding? from the trailer that doesn't seem to be the point at all. they ruined this "double's" life and that is a fact.

Breck LeSueur on Apr 26, 2011

24

When we watch a movie (trailer is just a medium) there are various of points that comes out... I am not saying "they" were angels or that the "doubles life" was not ruined... I am talking abt the timing of the film, while focusing on one aspect of the subject while forgetting the rest (many times its the most important part)....

The Iraqi goverment wasn't put into place by the West. Saddam was an army officer who took power in a coup in 1969, and had nothing to do with the West. And please, before you talk about how the US "armed" Iraq, that fairy tale has long been debunked. I read a report years ago that listed all of the military hardware that was provided to Iraq, by country. The Eastern Bloc provided 98%, which is why the vast majority of all of the hardware we destroyed in both the 1991 Gulf War and the 2003 War was Russian and Chinese. Also, Bush never said we'd find WMD, only that Saddam had the capacity to produce them, which is supported by every official investigation that's been done of the matter, even the ones produced by partisan Democrats to try to demonize Bush. Not a place for a political discussion, I know, but it gets tiresome to have to read outright bullshit about the Iraq war even on a movie trailer blog.

Bring your bullshit arguments to a movie blog it seems. Didn't mean to single you out though, should have included that inane post by Breck Lesuer. My apologies.

Whoops, I meant Lucky. Should have proofread. Sorry Breck.

Frank on Apr 27, 2011

32

LOL... Seriously u believe that... well anyways forget it, cause this will bring out a discussion/debate which is not appropriate on a movie trailer blog... I mean i will bring out my points and proof / links of numerous website, and you will do the same... It will lead nowhere.. All i can say is we all should do our research... Media (like movies and its plot) is used to convey message or bring a picture in front of u , in which the reality is different....

Your spot on and very correct. This isnt a politucal forum, also correct iraq obtained torture techniques, weapons, fighter jets..etc from the iron curtain during the gulf war soviets worked most anything involving technical electronics even down to radar. Cheers mate

One shouldnt deflect from what the film expresses much as the book does. WMD who cares, its about the fidai for uday that was torutred, imprisoned on a whim, paid 22 dinars per month which at that time was about $25. Its about the atrocities he experiences. So if parents have kids that are murderers should they be on trial? Tis your inference when you say "which was put in place by the west" like we didnt nurture the country enough and thats why it was like that. Noob

"Crazed eccentric" is a nice way of describing a guy who would regularly kidnap 14 year old girls, rape them to death, then leave their head on their family's porch. At least he died in a toilet with his scumbag brother, last possessions being a suitcase full of US Dollars, a bunch of dick pills, and some silk shirts. Spit.

It's funny all the politics, but really my petrol isn't any cheaper, which is the reason we went to war in the first place. Bad shit happens everywhere and no-one gives a fuck unless there's some sort of fuel interest, like in Libya. Let's give em Freeeeedoooom and get the pipes in quickly. The film looks funny and ultimately depressing whilst looking at the life of a man who no-one was able to go up to and tell to his face 'Here mate, yer being a bit of a dick, calm down'. Americans as well as the British sold arms to Iraq, they sold arms to loads of dodgy folk, infact America even sold arms to the Nazi's before they joined WW2 whilst deliberating which side of the war to join. Weirdly enough it was Nazi scientists who helped USA fly to the moon at NASA. But you can't tell some people that because it offends their patriotism. WMD's who cares, just gimme some cheap fuel and move on.
