Must Watch: Badass Trailer for Action Film 'Safe' with Jason Statham

"That girl does not leave this city." Whoa, this looks awesome! Lionsgate has debuted the official theatrical trailer for Safe, written & directed by Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans), starring Jason Statham as a former elite agent who rescues and protects a young Chinese girl from every mob and corrupt person in New York. It's kind of like Taken in reverse, where he's got to protect and get her out of there. I know Statham has been getting a little repetitive/stale in action movies these days, but this looks like the awesome return to intense action within a great story that we've been waiting for. It really gets amped up at the end - enjoy!

A former elite agent takes on a two-tier mission: rescue a Chinese girl who's been abducted by the Triads, then use a safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC officials, and the Triads themselves.
Safe is written and directed by Boaz Yakin, a New York-born filmmaker who was set to direct the doomed "Batman Beyond" project that became Batman Begins, eventually directing Fresh, A Price Above Rubies, Remember the Titans, Uptown Girls and Death in Love most recently. Lionsgate originally had this set for release this fall, but delayed it until March 2nd next year. Looks awesome, I'm seeing it either way. You?

Yeah I was thinking it's a beefed up Mercury Rising. The song is 'The Outsider' by A Perfect Circle (I think?).

That's the right song, but specifically this is the Apocalypse Mix on the aMOTION album.

So this is what a good Mercury Rising would look like, huh?

Must Watch? didn't i see this when it was called the Transporter, i mean, the Machinist, i mean, Crank. Statham movies are like rap videos... you've seen one.. you've seen em all.

You mean the Mechanic. The Machinist was a psychological thriller with Christian Bale. I see your point, though.

Personally I don't care what they call this movie....Jason Statham movies always deliver their intent...which is pure action driven entertainment...and I love that. I love his attitude, his delivery, and how fast and hard hitting his films are. It's like how good comedic actors and timing can make you forget how stupid a plot is. A good action actor can do the same, and Statham is the best in Hollywood right now....and I agree with the article, this is the best preview for a Statham film that I've seen in years.

Action looks great but the acting looks horrible. I'll check it out on DVD or something.

i'm torn on this one - looks like it could be a fun, one-time watch (rent). it has some good (albeit over-the-top) acton. i find it hard to believe that one 12-year-old could crack a code that no other mathematician could break.

Statham is a terrible actor. He can't get away from the same character he plays in every movie. This movie is garbage and he is garbage.

I really like Statham, but agree these action movies are starting to blend together. I wish he would do another film like "The Bank Job". "Blitz" was also very good. But "Killer Elite" was dreadful. Not his fault.

This looks like something I would enjoy and I will watch it when it goes into theaters. Action movies are a dime a dozen, and most of them suck balls, but Statham's stunt and fighting background makes him a really good, really believable action guy. Some of his movies are fucking bad, tho. You can generally tell by the trailer. This one looks like it will be fun.

This looks decent and all, but after the Transporter movies, The Mechanic, Chaos etc., I've gotten tired of Statham in the same role over and over. He must have it written in his contract that he's allowed to play the exact same character in every movie. And whetehr a good guy or bad one, he always gets to win in the end just so he can look cool. It's just getting old.
