It is time. Paramount and Marvel Studios have officially launched their Super Bowl TV spot online via Yahoo for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, essentially our first look and the very first trailer for this comic book movie, directed by Joe Johnston. The cast includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan and Toby Jones as Arnim Zola. This is the first bit of footage we've been waiting to see for a while, so dive right in! Then let us know what you think?

After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers for a new top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero devoted to defending American ideals.
Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger is directed by Joe Johnston, who previously directed Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, Jumanji, October Sky, Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo and The Wolf Man. The screenplay was written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (writers of Life & Death of Peter Sellers, You Kill Me and all three Chronicles of Narnia movies, from Lion, Witch, Wardrobe to Dawn Treader) and also Joss Whedon. Paramount is bringing Captain America to theaters starting on July 22nd this summer.

It was badass! Johnston seems to have done the impossible! Evans fits the suit perfectly and it was awesome seeing him as a skinny grunt, before donning the Shield, Can't wait!

AWESOME!!!!!!! my dad and i got so excited when the commercial started that we interfered with the antenna and the first part was all broken up. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Skull whimpey womples. My tinsey winsey sminsers are covered in ploppys. It's great to see Captain tinsers, turn into Captain Mompsey. Also Captain Americinsy's shiald looks famblompy dompey. Gun plingers, defended by Cuppy Roo Roo's. Stinky stoo stars all round for the miley moo-mars.

looked ok , didn't knock my socks off though , i hope this movie ends up bein good , Nazi's and Red skull as bad guys , how can u mess it up. would like to see just a hint more ..the teaser was really short.

Nice, but the writers of all three narnia movies are on this? I hope this is their A game then, and they just pooped out the narnia ones. Otherwise I hope Joss Whedon has a significant impact on it. Also The WolfMan, previously? oh well, hopefully this'll turn out well, I mean Marvel's backing it, so it's got a 50 50 chance in my mind. I mean Iron Man vs. Wolverine. So my guess is Thor's gonna suck, and Captain America will be the good one, but who knows.

Johnson inherited Wolfman while it was in shambles and did the best he could to salvage what remained. Have to agree on the writers and whenever Marvel is involved (film wise), its always a concern. I'll eat my words on Evans, he looked good as Cap. Trailer didn't over show, I'm interested now.

yeah but Hayley Atwel looked like a replacement Claire Danes in the trailer... while the Rocketeer had Jennifer Connelly (in her prime)... wait what are talking about again? Oh well, I didn't pay attention to the Rocketeer anyway... mmm... Connelly...

I'm glad this isn't all flashy and cartoony in the color department. The costumes in general and Captain America's in particular look fantastic. I hate using the chewed up phrase of "dark and gritty" but it -does- look gritty and I love it. Now I don't wanna see any more footage or pictures until the movie releases.

The strongest part of this trailer is the girl at the end. She looks like a great actress even with a potentially cheesy like like "I think it works". Hopefully it will be good but this didn't excite me at all.

Could be great, but those pics of Nazi future soldiers make my stomach hurt. Why couldn't they make it look real? I mean the battle scenes with him should be like Private Ryan/Band of Brothers with a little bit of WOW. I guess PG13 got them fraked up to sell sits and popcorn. Shame.

Yeah i don't like Rockem-Sockem-Nazis either... but it is in the Marvel Universe, where Tony Stark can build a particle accelerator in his garage, so it actually isn't the "real" world. But yes, it is a PG13 movie, AND based on a comic book aimed for teenagers, so the lack of blood, sex, and gore is justified.
