Fright Night Trailer

We've seen some glimpses at the remake of the original 1985 film, but now a first official trailer for Fright Night has finally arrived via IGN. This modern take on the 80's horror take thrusts Anton Yelchin, Christopher Miintz-Plasse, Toni Collette and Imogen Poots into a sticky situation as they found out Jerry (Colin Farrell), the new resident in their neighborhood is a vampire. This looks like a really cool contemporary update of the original film, but I'm not sure about the need for 3D in such a literally dark toned film. Sadly there is only a brief glimpse of David Tennant, but check out the first full trailer below!

Watch the first official trailer for Craig Gillespie's Fright Night:

Senior Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) finally has it all going on. He's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Collette), doesn't notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic. Fright Night will hit theaters on August 19th.

Did 'Disturbia' get some story line from Fright Night?  I admit I never saw the first one growing up...but watching this trailer, I couldn't help but think of Disturbia.  Without a vampire of course...

are you seriously asking of Distrubia got story from Fright Night? This is a joke right? Go study your classic film history and see Rear Window...

Not everyone know movies like you Kenny. You sound like your only girlfriend is your right hand. You wannabe critic go back to your lonley living room and write screenplays.

to the douche bag above the douche bag above me: you dont have to be a dick man. making a comment like that proves the fact that your are in fact a douche bag without a girlfriend whos best friend is rosie palm and her five friends.

Kent is right. It amuses me the kids commenting with their vast 10 years' movie experience...

Uhm...no.  I really like Anton Yelchin and I liked the original Fright Night, but ever since the  terrible Daredevil movie I can't take Colin Farrell seriously as a "badass bad guy" anymore.  It doesn't feel cool and menacing, just...forced. =/ Edit: Gohikeone, I agree. That's what I was thinking of, too.

Ferrall was badass in "The Way Back."

He's good in a bunch of movies, I just don't like him in certain roles. Obviously that's just my personal opinion and I understand that others disagree.

Oh I agree before "In Bruges" he wasn't that important...but ever since that that fateful film he's really become a great actor...I respect your opinion, you're a regular and I'm usually prone to agreeing with you.

Aw man... there was only a millisecond of David Tennant. Oh well, I can't wait for this movie

I think it could be really fun and I like the cast. I can't wait to see this flick. I mean August is usually a dumping ground for garbage, but this could be fun.

Guess I'm not a Dr. Who fan to drool over Tennant, but I like this. I am pro for this remake, but would really dig it if they released it in 2-D, otherwise......onto the Netflix queue

Heheh, good one :)I don’t think I will see this though as this is not my kind of movie, you know 🙂

I hope David Tennant does more American mainstream movies from now on, tries to reach his full potential as an actor and tries to win an Oscar.

I’ve always wanted to see Colin Farrell and Christian Bale do another movie together after having no scenes together in The New World (2005). They are both incredible actors and it would be amazing to see them bounce off each other in a film.

Now that you mention him...i think Bale would have been a better choice than Farrell in this role. Im thinking of him in American Psycho...all charming and cool and in an instant crazy and deranged! Still i think this looks fun.

I'll see it. The cast is excellent and Ferrall looks great here. I'm worried about the girlfriend role though...in the original she was  sweet and cool...here though she seems like a stuck-up bitch...I could be wrong though...Imogen Poots is a great actress.

Looks good, but did they have to show the whole movie in this trailer? And what happend to the creepy guy that was living with Jerry from the original?ANd who's playing Roddy Mcdowell's part in this remake?

David Tennant is playing McDowell's part. I'm so glad that Tennant wasn't rocking the guyliner and long black wig that he was wearing in that released photo. He looked Who-esque, which makes me extremely happy. I swear to god if he fights a vampire in a blue pinstripe suit, wearing tortoise-shell glasses, I'll lose my shit.

the movie is good, although many criticized it for similarities on other movies, this can't be avoided, I am really satisfied with the casting and how the story goes

The trailer gave a lot away, but I never saw Billy Cole' character. Shame they cut him out. This looks good regardless. Seems like they're sticking to the original for the most part. Mintz-Plasse as 'Evil Ed' is brilliant.

Quazzimotto on May 15, 2011

seems a lot darker than the original. The original was super humorous and knew it was campy. This looks like, and from what I see, is succeeding at being serious horror tone. I'm digging it. I'll catch this one for sure.

The original was too funny for the type of movie i wanted it to be this seem more on par for what i was expecting.  I can't wait for this after watching the trailer.
