TRAILERS
Must Watch: Explosive New 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Trailer
by Ethan Anderton
May 20, 2011
You may lose your faith in us. But never in yourselves. From here, the fight will be on your own. When the last trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon hit, I have to admit that I was pretty much blown away. All the action looks impressive as hell, and I think this has the potential to be the best of the series (I actually wish this whole cover-up for the space race was part of the first film). Now we have another brand new trailer for the summer blockbuster sequel, and I'm even more pumped to see this in theaters. There's plenty of great shots of Chicago getting decimated, and a final shot of Optimus Prime that's just fantastic.
Here's the new trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon:
In this movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky must help his robot friends defeat enemies like Shockwave.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is again directed by everyone's favorite explosive director, Michael Bay, of the previous two Transformers movies as well as Bad Boys I and II, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Island. The screenplay was written by Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote the Revenge of the Fallen script but went solo this time, and also worked on The Ring, The Skeleton Key and Brothers Grimm screenplays. Paramount is bringing Transformers 3 to theaters everywhere in 3D on June 29th. Bring on the summer!

It was good... but it could have done with more explosions, perhaps a helicopter flying against a setting sun.

I'm looking forward to seeing Patrick Dempsey's role. He's playing the first human villain in a Transformers movie. I don't want to ruin it for people who are still interested in the story, but it's at the very least one of the more interesting and intriguing plot developments that's happened in one of these films. It will be a really intense and dark film. It’s played a lot more straight and really epic.

Bots like Roman and Jenna don't use enter keys they way us humans do. 😉

Woooo! Freakin’ fantastic, can’t wait! Transformers: Dark of the Moon is absolutely breathtaking! Oh, God, the only thing that’s going through my head to describe this movie, it’s like sex with an orgasm at the end of it! Whereas the first two movies were like you have sex but you never get the orgasm. A lot of stopping and starting but… oh, I wish I hadn’t said that.

there's probably a reason that rosie-whatsername doesn't say a word in all the trailers so far.

Pretty cool. Bay had me at "The Twins are not back in T3.", though.

There isnt much difference from the last trailer. Except for Prime flying at the end after another Autobot presumably commits suicide. The chick looks worse and worse in these trailers. She must have swallowed on Michael Bay to get the part. No reason to put her in otherwise.

"She must have swallowed on Michael Bay to get the part." Wow...and I guess you were there taking pics, right? But seriously, what did you REALLY think of the trailer?

Who cares anyway! Are you worried she replaced you?
Zack Snyder on May 21, 2011
18
Well, you're right about one thing--who cares? But it seems some are really fixated on the girl, whining about how she looks. That's called missing the forest for the trees. And no, she didn't replace me--oh wait a sec, just what the hell was this line "Are you worried she replaced you?" about, anyway?

Very impressive so far. Seeing it in IMAX 3D will be a treat for the retinas. But it all boils down to how well the story is told. Visually it will be an epic ride like there's no tomorrow. This will hands down be the top grossing summer blockbuster of 2011 no matter how good or bad it is. Bay's track record as of recent isn't up to par but he sure knows how to bring in the $$$.
A P on May 20, 2011
21
It will be the top grossing movie domestically. It'll be tough to beat either HP7 or Pirates4 at the foreign B.O.
Abides-d on May 20, 2011
22
You could be right--this might pull in a lot domestically, but the other films might be champs at the foreign B.O. (and let's not forget that THOR and FAST FIVE have done very well overseas). Looks cool to me, especially that shot of Prime at the end. But folks, I mean, listen....this isn't supposed to be Mensa material. It's a popcorn film with robots and humans beating the crap out of each other, and it's directed by a guy who's specialty is loud explosions and eyeball kicks. I'm not expecting INCEPTION or CITIZEN KANE, I'm just going in looking for a few hours of fun and excitement. Remember when that used to be the reason to go to movies--not to confirm everything on a mental checklist?

it took him 3 fucking movies to put in some seriously robotastic action in it, i hope its good
Anonymous on May 20, 2011
24
I thought there was some robotastic action in the first two...but hey, remember, it does cost a bit to get the action and hell, ILM can only do so much. I hope it will be good...but to do that, I'll have to see it.
Anonymous on May 21, 2011
25
ILM can ony do so much? There is no other FX company out there that can compare, name me one company? And please don't even think of bringing up Peteys people, ILM can do and top anyone in the biz.
Azreal71 on Jun 28, 2011
26
Well, I won't bring up WETA (dammit, just did--sorry), but...lessee...Digital Domain, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Hydraulx, MPC, Blue Sky....now, of these, I'd say DD and SPI come close, but ILM is still the top dog. That said, while ILM did do the bulk of the visuals for this film, DD also worked on this film. And the reason why I said that "ILM can only do so much" is that they were also working on other films at the time. And if anyone out there thinks that putting together and compositing giant talking robots into a movie is child's play....well, maybe you should grab and read an issue of CINEFEX magazine. Just sayin'....

It seems like the same end of the world movie we've seen a thousand times. I just can't get excited about watching computer animated images fight each other.
Moon on May 20, 2011
28
There have been a thousand end of the world films? Really? Can you name them all? "I just can't get excited about watching computer animated images fight each other." ....So I guess you've never played video games before...oh well.
Anonymous on May 21, 2011
29
You can play video games, making yourself part of the action. You can't take control of the movie. That comparison is completely invalid. And you don't understand figures of speech?
Chazzy on May 21, 2011
30
Nope, I understand figures of speech quite well. And the video game comparison is quite valid. Besides, who's Moon to talk--what, he works for ILM, or something?

I'm still willing to give the movie a chance (if it gets good review otherwise I won't waste my money) but based off of this trailer alone it looks like a tired formula.

But there are just like 3 new scenes....that´s all....why do they say this is a new trailer ?
David Darida on May 20, 2011

In a way I'm glad they didn't add a lot of new stuff. I want to be blown away when I go see it.
Chris A. on May 21, 2011

Yet more Bombastic Michael Bay overblown action and fast cut metallic blurry action sequences. Too much emphasis on Shia Lebouf again, the Transformers are never characterised so why should we give a shit when they fight and die? Even after 1 and 2 the lessons haven't been learned. But this isn't about story arcs anymore its about $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and marketing your film to get that money shot opening weekend.

Why is everyone... pressing... the ENTER key!? (As for the trailer, it looks visually outstanding. But the sound at the begining sounded like an Inception rip-off...)

How is this a "NEW" trailer. It's exactly the same as the other one. Looks crap. I guarantee this will be lame.
Guest on May 21, 2011
45
Hmm....can you put that in writing, with a cast-iron, 100% guarantee? I mean, you MUST have seen the completed film to make so high-handed (and half-assed) a comment.
Anonymous on May 21, 2011
46
Are you actually socially retarded, or is this like your "theme" for playing Devil's Advocate?
Scotty97 on May 22, 2011
47
Nope, not at all, Scotty....and who says I'm playing Devil's Advocate? Is there something unusual about actually waiting to see a finished film BEFORE screaming that it sucks (add whatever body part you wish)? Nah, that's not playing Devil's Advocate...it's just being sensible instead of being an @$$hole. That's my response--take it or leave it. And in regards to the TF films--liked the first one, did not like the second one. But since I do not know how the third one will be, I will see it in the theaters. If it is good, I will say so. If it is a horrific mess, I will say so. Got it? Good.

Well, Thanos, it could be a lot better than the second film. Yeah, I saw it and did not like it at all...but I thought the first was actually good. This third film could be very good. It could be pretty bad. The only way to know is to see it.

The first was good, there are elements of the 2nd that stand out especially on the FX end but the story just wasn't on par. This one will be the best, Bay has to redeem himself. As far as the shitty scripts on the 1st and 2nd Bay delayed shooting until he edited the script. That being said im extreamly excited for this!!!

This is how movie advertising should be. only show the minimum!! Now hollywood basically shows you the whole movie in trailers before it comes out or at least all the good parts. even super 8 in its last week before release showed way too much of the actual movie. I applaud transformers marketing campaign! everyones going to be surprised at a movie for once!

it looks good and alot of action but meghan fox is not in it thats the only thing missing but i know the real reason why she is not in it she got sick and tired of having to kiss that stupid nut shia labouf and she had enough and told micheal she did not want to be in this one
