Hugo Trailer

"Do you want to have an adventure?" Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first charming trailer via Apple for Martin Scorsese's new 3D adventure, Hugo, the new official title of the adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznick. This delightful family comedy stars Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz, with Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Richard Griffiths and Michael Stuhlbarg. This is just a wonderful trailer, it looks so amazing, I can't wait to see it. And of course "Kings & Queens" certainly helps a bit. Watch the trailer and let us know what you think?

Check out the first trailer for Martin Scorsese's Hugo via Apple:

You can also watch the first Hugo trailer in High Defintion on Apple

Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan (Asa Butterfield) who lives in the walls of a train station becomes wrapped up in a mystery with his young new friend (Chloe Moretz) that involves his late father and an automaton.

Hugo, originally The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese, of films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed and Shutter Island most recently. The screenplay was written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Time Machine, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd, Rango, Coriolanus, Bond 23), based on Brian Selznick's book. This was shot in 3D. Paramount is bringing Hugo to theaters everywhere starting November 23rd this fall. Looks great?

I'm sicking to my guns, I will not see this movie...I love Scorsese but its in sadly pass.

Xerxexx on Jul 14, 2011

Awwwww that is SO sad to hear! This looks wonderful man! Did you even watch it...? :/

Alex Billington on Jul 14, 2011

Alex, I relented and watched was quite a great trailer, so I have decided I will see it, but not in theaters, a definite rent...I can't see it in theaters, unless of course its outta 3-D.

Xerxexx on Jul 15, 2011

i  have to agree - no 3D for me, either! if this has a non-3D counterpart, i'll see it in the theatre......otherwise, it's a rent for sure. and wow - a wonderful trailer. it has a real magical quality to it.......too bad about the 3D part.

Anonymous on Jul 15, 2011

You all don't need to be wailing and whining about the 3-D. Most theatres show both 3-D and 2-D versions. 🙂

Jedibilly on Jul 16, 2011

This is a late reply, but I need to point out that this is a myth. Many reported being unable to see Deathly Hallows 2 because no 2-D version was shown. According to US media reports some theatres are showing 2-D with the 3-D projectors, rendering a poor picture (I believe I experienced this with Deathly Hallows 2 here in Canada). I personally have been unable to see several films because either no 2-D was shown or the 2-D was SOLD OUT. We cannot assume that 3-D movies are going to be made available in 2-D everywhere.

Al on Oct 12, 2011

That atitude can make you lose some great adventures in life 😉

Anonymous on Jul 15, 2011

indeed it can! But as Harry Waters said: "You gotta stick to you principles." right before he ate a bullet.

Xerxexx on Jul 15, 2011

You are a moron. 3D rocks!!!! This looks fantastic. I'm there.

Guest22324 on Jul 15, 2011

3d is for morons and this looks awful

Anonymous on Jul 16, 2011

everyone is entitled to their opinion. - i've never liked 3D - it's a gimmick designed to get more money out of people.

Anonymous on Jul 15, 2011

agree. its completely unnecessary to the story. I don't watch movies to be dazzled by effects, unless its a Michael Bay film, I guess.

grimjob on Jul 15, 2011

michael bay went to shit with T2 and T3

Anonymous on Jul 16, 2011

I am one to agree with you that 3D is completely unnecessary, but... If there is anyone that could have the most interesting reason for filming a movie in 3D it's the guy that directed Taxi Driver and Boardwalk Empire.

Marcus on Jul 17, 2011

trailer makes it seem boring and a typical kids movie i am sure it is not but the trailer makes it seem that way

hg on Jul 14, 2011

I watch everything Scorsese does, He is a Genius.

Loser on Jul 14, 2011

Shutter Island disappointed me.  Not because it wasn't good, but because it tried too hard to be scary most of the way and didn't play up the tragedy element as much as it could have.  I mean, that music was annoying and loud as hell throughout the whole thing.  I don't need to be told when to be scared, and frankly silence can do a lot more than sharp sudden sounds or crescendo in developing tension.  But yeah, Scorsese is pretty great.

JL on Jul 15, 2011

I didn't like it cause the trailer gave away the whole damn movie!

Joshua on Jul 15, 2011

It looks more like a Robert Zemeckis poler express esque movie a Martin Scorsese film. It seems a little to sappy and whimsical for me. It's also another film that was made mainly to use the 3D gimmick

Moviekidmike on Jul 14, 2011

Shutter Island was basically Martin doing M Night Shyamalan (at least up to The Village). So harking to Zemeckis might not be a bad thing.

Jaz on Oct 22, 2011

I read this book and absolutely loved it. But, to me, it didn't seem like a happy, light-hearted cheesy kids movie that the trailer makes it look like. With lots of bad comedy and such. But maybe I'm wrong. I am REALLY hoping I'm wrong. Because that book has so much potential for a spectacular movie to be made out of it.

RFabry on Jul 14, 2011

Bad choice of song. But it looked pretty cool. I could do without hearing the word "adventure" over and over, though.

Cracky on Jul 14, 2011

When did the great Martin Scorsese sell-out??? Sad day!

Ryanr1024 on Jul 15, 2011

Ha ha, sold out, ages ago.

Crapola on Jul 15, 2011

Ugh... the music makes this seem so cheesy!  That and all of the Sacha Baron Cohen slapstick humor.  I was really hoping for more from this 🙁

Kevin on Jul 15, 2011

I was hoping for a darker family movie as it stands it looks like the usual fare. Fluff basically, but better than the crap-on-turds like Zookeeper and Tooth Fairy still.

ate on Jul 15, 2011

This looks really bad.

Brian Ricci Movie Review on Jul 15, 2011

Only a film typical wannabe film critic would say that. I guess you idiots have to have something to complain about.

Guest22324 on Jul 15, 2011

I'm a what?  A film typical wannabe film critic? What is that?

Brian Ricci Movie Review on Jul 15, 2011

Typo or no typo - either way, you are an idiot.

Guest22324 on Jul 15, 2011

That was a typo?  Wow.  Yeah.  I guess I'm the idiot.

Brian Ricci Movie Review on Jul 15, 2011

Damn. What's with the hostility? If you want to shell out even more money to watch bullshit fly out at you, that's your decision. But stop talking shit to those who care more about a strong storyline and character development than a gimmick meant to rape the wallets of parents and dazzle the eyes of simple folk like yourself.

grimjob on Jul 15, 2011

That music was cheeeeheeheheeeeseballios. Quite like how it's graded though, not really arsed about the 3d but the sets look great.

Crapola on Jul 15, 2011

I honestly thought it was really fucking good CGI until about 20s in LOL.

Daniel Vu Tran on Jul 15, 2011

You all don't need to be getting your panties in a wad about the 3-D. Most theatres show both 3-D and 2-D versions, especially now that 3-D is losing momentum. So just don't watch the 3-D version. I don't.

Matt on Jul 15, 2011

As I posted in reply to another comment here, 2-D showings are not a guarantee and there have been reports of substandard picture quality in some theatres (I experienced this myself). With the studios intent on force-feeding us 3-D, fois gras-style, and the fact Hugo is reportedly only being released 2-D "in selected theatres" I am assuming this one's going to be hard to come by in 2-D until the Blu-ray comes out later.

Al on Oct 12, 2011

I really hate that song, if they had different music I'd like this trailer a whole lot more. The movie looks fun though

Armeetapus16 on Jul 15, 2011

Is this the first kid friendly Scorsese picture?

JL on Jul 15, 2011

Yep so this is unmarked territory for Marty. At least he won't be channeling M. Night Shyamalan (which he did with Shutter Island) with this one.

Jez on Jul 15, 2011

Let's hope not.

JL on Jul 15, 2011

If someone already commented about this I missed it, but is it just me or does the boy playing Hugo look like a younger Elijah Wood? And since I don't know anythign about this story, I still don't because the trailer doesn't really give you much of an idea.

jjboldt on Jul 15, 2011

Marty has young kids..... He had to make at least one for the kids. I'm happy for him though Can't wait for his upcoming movie though:

wake on Jul 15, 2011

Don't worry about Hugo. Seems more interesting than Shutter Island already.

Jez on Jul 15, 2011

He got his pitty Oscar, he needs to retire or just produce now.

happy camper on Jul 15, 2011

I bet you liked the movie 'Pledge This'

Alex Williams on Jul 15, 2011

Martin Scorsese is one of, if not my favourite director of all time. And seeing this trailer truly proves how I am not insane. For all of the people who have critisized this trailer or film for being 3-D or not being the usual Scorsese crime flick (which dont get me wrong, I am a massive fan) are not understanding that all directors crave to expand. And not only has Scorsese done that, but he has used 3-D in a film that HE BELIEVES (let's all remember that he believes movies such as Transformers and Green hornet should not be in 3-D, but movies such as Precious and other dramas) should be in 3D. I LOVE this trailer and I always look for style similarities in the trailers of directors, and i LOVE the fact that his style, work, and artform has translated into this new film. I think it will be fantastic and I will be in line opening day to see this one. Simply beautiful trailer and I think it looks as visually compelling as any other Scorsese film. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I think this will be a real Home run for Scorsese. Two Thumbs Up on the trailer!

kwame adansi on Jul 15, 2011

I hope there is some darkness to this film..

Smendoza on Jul 15, 2011

Why the frick did they change the name???  "Hugo"--the most boring title ever!

Scm1000 on Jul 15, 2011

WTF Marty.

norm on Jul 16, 2011

wow !! fantastic marty!! i could care less if its in 3D the story is what matters to me and the trailer was awesome left me wanting more!!

Rey on Jul 16, 2011

Terrible music choice. Honestly this looks cheese town.

Sanderis on Jul 16, 2011

Just watched it a second time. THe music is like the WORST. I felt like it was a movie about church camp.

Sanderis on Jul 16, 2011

Jedibilly on Jul 16, 2011

Honestly this film trailer may come off as just another 3D family film, but I suspect there to be many layers to provide great depth. As a Scorsese fan I am thrilled by this trailer, because it is a far cry from all of his previous works.... All of you naysayers, I predict much different reactions after you have actually seen the movie.

Marcus on Jul 17, 2011

Only naysaying the 3-D. I'm sure the film's story will be fine and will look great on 2-D Blu-ray.

Al on Oct 12, 2011

Jackmooney on Sep 27, 2011

Yeah, but it's got Chloe in it. Always been impressed with her work so i'll watch it for that at least.
