"I'll do or say anything if I believe in it, but I have to believe in the cause." Sony has unveiled an utterly fantastic new trailer for George Clooney's new movie called The Ides of March, an adaptation of the stage play by Farragut North. George Clooney stars as Governer Mike Morris and Ryan Gosling as a young, ambitions press secretary. It tells a thrilling story of a few days leading up to the Ohio presidential primary. This is pretty intense for just a trailer. The cast also includes Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood and Paul Giamatti. I can't wait to see this, it looks fantastic, we're going to have quite the fall.

"Either we're going to lead the world, or we're going to bury our heads in the sand." The Ides of March takes place during the frantic last days before the heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate's shot at the presidency. George Clooney not only directed the film, but also stars in it with Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeffrey Wright. Sony Pictures has Ides of March scheduled for release on October 7th this fall, following a premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

must watch? thrilling? intense?..........come on, alex - this looks like a pretty standard political thriller. i guess it looks worth a watch; but, i don't see all the praise you're heaping on this..........i'm ambivalent on this one - the cast is good (although i'm not a clooney fan at all) but this doesn't look that special to me.

i agree, mika! i certainly don't see any insults pointed at alex in my first post - nor am i saying he doesn't have a right to his opinion. he voiced his thoughts on the trailer and i disagreed. while the movie looks "ok" - i don't consider (from the trailer) this to be a "must-watch" movie.....nor does it look thrilling/intense.

Whoa, they pulled out the heavy hitters for this one. I'm not to sure about George Clooney behind the camera but if he can wrangle all that talent then I'm sure he has a classic on his hands.

Although I love Clooney, I'm not sure if I need to see a movie about a politician who wants to serve his country, but ends up being a closet asshole. Right now, I feel like most of them are assholes, so this won't lift my spirits to much. Sigh.

Noticed Leo DiCaprio is an executive producer. That'll make me see it, even though I already was going to.
