Submarine Trailer

"You're too good for me, you're too good for anyone." It's finally here! The Weinstein Co. has released the official US trailer for Richard Ayoade's Submarine, the quirky but brilliant indie that took Toronto by storm when it premiered there last year. A big group of movie bloggers fell in love with it then and everyone who has seen it since has loved it (for the most part). Apple released the new trailer which we've got below. Submarine stars Craig Roberts as the 15-year-old Oliver Tate and he's a character you'll instantly love once everyone else gets an opportunity to see this. The music at the end is from the film, too. So damn good!

A comedy following a 15-year-old boy named Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) who has two objectives: To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to stop his mother from leaving his father for her dance teacher.

Submarine is written & directed by British filmmaker/actor/comedian Richard Ayoade, making his feature debut after writing and acting in various TV shows, and appearing on "The IT Crowd". This is based on Joe Dunthorne's novel of the same name, published in 2008. This first premiered at Toronto Film Festival (read my review) and also played at the London and Sundance Film Fests. The Weinstein Company is distributing Submarine in the US and set a June 3rd release date for Submarine. Don't miss this, one of my 2011 faves!

Brief hat phase win! I refuse to believe that anyone married to Sally Hawkins would not be sleeping with her, I refuse to believe it! I put off learning anything about this film...and its safe to say, that I have been missing out. It looks just delightful...yeah I said delightful.

That's honestly an accurate way to describe it, but works best once you've seen it, I don't like using that adjective when you haven't, as it just makes it seem weird. But yes, it definitely is delightful!

I'm very excited for it now, the trailer was really good and it did a good job selling a skeptic like me.

Now this is a way much better trailer than the first, delightful indeed. I didn't like the book, didn't finish it. As much as the author wanted him to be, Oliver Tate is no Holden Caulfield. But this looks surprisingly good, although I prefer a more american indie feel than the british one. And the music is from Alex Turner/Arctic Monkeys.
