Must Watch: Phenomenal Full Trailer for J.J. Abrams' Sci-Fi 'Super 8'

"I saw it… no one believes me." This movie is, without any hesitation, my most anticipated movie of this entire year, I get chills just thinking about it. Paramount has unveiled via Twitter the full two-and-a-half minute trailer for J.J. Abrams' mysterious sci-fi movie Super 8, inspired by the Spielberg classics of the 70's/80's. Not only does it melt my heart at the start with that classic Amblin logo, which we haven't seen for such a long time, but it looks absolutely phenomenal, in every way. I think Abrams has created a classic here that we're about to experience in the summer. You must stop and watch this trailer - it is amazing!!
Watch the first full theatrical trailer for J.J. Abrams' Super 8, in high def via Apple:
Relationships are tested when a small town experiences extraordinarily fantastic "other-worldly" events.
The film stars Zach Mills, Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard and Amanda Michalka.
Super 8 (which is supposedly a tentative title, but that doesn't seem to be the case) is written & directed by visionary director J.J. Abrams, who started his career with "Lost" and "Alias" before first directing Mission: Impossible III then Star Trek last summer. This is being produced by Steven Spielberg at Amblin, Relativity and Bad Robot. According to early reports, this was inspired by Spielberg's sci-fi films of the 70's and 80's. Paramount will be bringing Super 8 to theaters everywhere, not in 3D, starting on June 10th this summer.

This just embodies everything I loved and continue to love about film, it looks like a lovely throw back to old Spielberg and I dearly miss those days so I think this is clearly at the top of my most anticipated releases. Home run I hope.

I wanted to skip this trailer because I'm already in, but I couldn't resist. It's so charming yet terrifying in the same time... My most anticipated movie of 2011 alongside the last epic HP.

Can not wait to see this movie! This trailer just confirmed it for me and I'm in agreement with Isildur_of_Numenor that this and HP are my two most anticipated. The kid actually reminds me of Eliot

This trailer was great. I'm feeling all kinds of excited to see this. My only gripe is the hype from the first teaser trailers. Why were they trying to push this as some kind of crazy mystery? Does anyone remember the FS article on the deciphering of those little film roll images? Like another Cloverfield? I guess it's just what you'd expect from J.J. Abrams...

Wow, certainly one of the top movies of 2011! How could anything go wrong with Spielberg and Abrams together?? This new trailer gives more kind of a "goonies meets close encounters" vibe.

Okay, beyond how cool the movie itself looks... KYLE CHANDLER. I am so happy to see him in a major film role. Man is an incredible actor and needs more work. KYLE CHANDLER.

wasn't anything, as far as I could tell from a couple of freeze frames, it just looked like spot light flash across a dirty marked up window pane(or just glass)

when the Smiths put their children in movies, they call it being pushy and try to create a dynasty; when the Fanning sisters are put forward (obviously by their parents and surroundings too)...how do you call that? Having said that, that movie was alright...will wait for the dvd...yawn..loll!

It is in these scenarios that you bite your tongue (typing hand) because there is a strong possibility that this will probably end incredibly similar to a prior Spielberg alien film.

Don't we already have access to 80s movies? Do we really need more? There are so many good movies out there you are missing, alex. Kind of sad... By the way, the new Doc on Bill Hicks? Where is it?
Spike Murdock on Mar 11, 2011
41
Yeah, they should never make a movie based on the past ever again. I mean we were already there. So yeah, fuck your Bill Hicks doc then. Isn't there already access to video on him, and aren't there already enough documentaries about people? Do we really need more? There are so many good movies out there about the present, and future that you are missing Spike. Kind of sad...

what's with the ass shot at 1:41? That was pretty decent, I'll end up seeing it for sure. Who's composing the score?

I was thinking the same thing, and I think it's a John Williams score by the sound of it.

It's a kids movie even though I've never seen it. So I'll just pass judgement like I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I mean everyone knows that only children 10 and under can enjoy The Goonies. Herp!

Also you if you are older than 17 and younger than 13 and like Red Dawn you are just plain weird. Children can never be the at the center of a good movie. Idiots...

The more I see the less excited I get. I have little hope. Abrams is to originality as M. Knight is too "surprise" endings.

Close Encounters Meets E.T. Meets Stand By Me

I remember seeing the teaser with the creature trying to break out of the cargo hold and thinking to myself that this is going to be good. Now it could go both ways where it is just a great film or it is such a bad film that it is good like Monster Squad which is still one of my favorite films to this day. These kids seem to be pretty talented actors which is a nice change to the Jaden Smith's in the industry.
