Super 8 Trailer

"I saw it… no one believes me." This movie is, without any hesitation, my most anticipated movie of this entire year, I get chills just thinking about it. Paramount has unveiled via Twitter the full two-and-a-half minute trailer for J.J. Abrams' mysterious sci-fi movie Super 8, inspired by the Spielberg classics of the 70's/80's. Not only does it melt my heart at the start with that classic Amblin logo, which we haven't seen for such a long time, but it looks absolutely phenomenal, in every way. I think Abrams has created a classic here that we're about to experience in the summer. You must stop and watch this trailer - it is amazing!!

Watch the first full theatrical trailer for J.J. Abrams' Super 8, in high def via Apple:

Relationships are tested when a small town experiences extraordinarily fantastic "other-worldly" events.
The film stars Zach Mills, Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard and Amanda Michalka.

Super 8 (which is supposedly a tentative title, but that doesn't seem to be the case) is written & directed by visionary director J.J. Abrams, who started his career with "Lost" and "Alias" before first directing Mission: Impossible III then Star Trek last summer. This is being produced by Steven Spielberg at Amblin, Relativity and Bad Robot. According to early reports, this was inspired by Spielberg's sci-fi films of the 70's and 80's. Paramount will be bringing Super 8 to theaters everywhere, not in 3D, starting on June 10th this summer.

I like it. Very intense trailer, certainly got my blood going.

SynapticLight on Mar 11, 2011

Can't wait to see this. So psyched before Iron Man2 when the first trailer screened. Hopefulyl seeing Battle L.A this weekend and get to catch this.

Dhruv Govil on Mar 11, 2011

This just embodies everything I loved and continue to love about film, it looks like a lovely throw back to old Spielberg and I dearly miss those days so I think this is clearly at the top of my most anticipated releases. Home run I hope.

Dominic on Mar 11, 2011

I'm absolutely sold now.

Derek on Mar 11, 2011

I wanted to skip this trailer because I'm already in, but I couldn't resist. It's so charming yet terrifying in the same time... My most anticipated movie of 2011 alongside the last epic HP.

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

12 yr olds should love this!!!

Hhhdhdh on Mar 11, 2011

Totally S.Spielberg 80's style... meh.

Manuel on Mar 11, 2011

Looks great. Looking forward to it. on Mar 11, 2011

Can not wait to see this movie! This trailer just confirmed it for me and I'm in agreement with Isildur_of_Numenor that this and HP are my two most anticipated. The kid actually reminds me of Eliot

Oh look he's looking for honey like Poo...Oh He's like poo alright!

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

This trailer was great. I'm feeling all kinds of excited to see this. My only gripe is the hype from the first teaser trailers. Why were they trying to push this as some kind of crazy mystery? Does anyone remember the FS article on the deciphering of those little film roll images? Like another Cloverfield? I guess it's just what you'd expect from J.J. Abrams...

Cracky on Mar 11, 2011

Holly shit. Absolutely amazing. Goose bumps alert.

fancy pants on Mar 11, 2011

Wow, certainly one of the top movies of 2011! How could anything go wrong with Spielberg and Abrams together?? This new trailer gives more kind of a "goonies meets close encounters" vibe.

Leinergroove on Mar 11, 2011

Dude!! I had goose bumps for the whole second part of the trailer. Sure looks good.

David Perretta on Mar 11, 2011

spolier...... I know what it is...

Trey on Mar 11, 2011

Music from "Cocoon" = WIN.

Duane on Mar 11, 2011

Okay, beyond how cool the movie itself looks... KYLE CHANDLER. I am so happy to see him in a major film role. Man is an incredible actor and needs more work. KYLE CHANDLER.

equustel on Mar 11, 2011

Early Edition--great show.

Cmrun7 on Mar 11, 2011

@Leinergroove: you nailed it, "Goonies meets close encounters". I'm sold and excited.

Alex C. on Mar 11, 2011

Who's butt was that walking at 1:44? Other than that, movies looks kid driven. I just lost 90% of my interest.

Chad on Mar 11, 2011

ET is back and he is pissed!

Boon on Mar 11, 2011

i love the retro feel of it and the storytelling seems excellent. i HATED cloverfield. i thought it was a bomb of epic proportions. i'm really glad to see that abrams decided to tell a story in this one. i'm very excited for this!

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

Ok, so what are the hidden images at 2:16???

Carl Simmons on Mar 11, 2011

wasn't anything, as far as I could tell from a couple of freeze frames, it just looked like spot light flash across a dirty marked up window pane(or just glass)

lego on Mar 11, 2011

Bubbab on Mar 11, 2011

it felt like "close encounters with the third kind."

jaxta on Mar 11, 2011

when the Smiths put their children in movies, they call it being pushy and try to create a dynasty; when the Fanning sisters are put forward (obviously by their parents and surroundings too) do you call that? Having said that, that movie was alright...will wait for the dvd...yawn..loll!

Gh on Mar 11, 2011

Now that's a trailer! Makes me want to run out and buy a ticket right now.

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

frickin' AWESOME! i'm loving the genre blend, it's so hard to define, so easy to love!

Lukass2006 on Mar 11, 2011

Spot on! I think it's easy to love it because of the E.T. vibe. Can't fail!

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

Can anyone make out what the thing is outside when the object flies from the room to outside????

BillyBlue on Mar 11, 2011

im guessing water tower. looks like the same one in the movie poster

Guest on Mar 12, 2011

mmmm... I felt me some Goonies in that trailer.

Jace on Mar 11, 2011

Homage to Spielberg films comes across as totally sucking up to Spielberg. Contrived. Predictable. Gimicky. Meh.

Pepito on Mar 11, 2011

Wow! So you've seen the movie already? How does it end? Please you seem to know it all! Tell us more!

Pepito2 on Mar 11, 2011

It is in these scenarios that you bite your tongue (typing hand) because there is a strong possibility that this will probably end incredibly similar to a prior Spielberg alien film.

Cracky on Mar 12, 2011

Is that little kid suppose to be Spielberg....? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Laaaame.

Semi on Mar 11, 2011

must... see...eee... this........ no...wwww

Tester on Mar 11, 2011

Don't we already have access to 80s movies? Do we really need more? There are so many good movies out there you are missing, alex. Kind of sad... By the way, the new Doc on Bill Hicks? Where is it?

Spike Murdock on Mar 11, 2011

Yeah, they should never make a movie based on the past ever again. I mean we were already there. So yeah, fuck your Bill Hicks doc then. Isn't there already access to video on him, and aren't there already enough documentaries about people? Do we really need more? There are so many good movies out there about the present, and future that you are missing Spike. Kind of sad...

Consideryourwordsnexttime on Mar 11, 2011

the music made the hairs on the back of neck stand up... great trailer

Nick on Mar 11, 2011

ehhh looks ok.

bob on Mar 11, 2011

How else can I describe the train wreck scene than just that?...a train wreck, a cgi piece of shit train wreck.

Chrisbo on Mar 11, 2011

yeah, it totally would have looked better if they had set an HO scale model on fire and rammed it into a toy truck. PRACTICAL EFFECTS ARE ALWAYS BETTER!!!!!!!!1

Anonymous on Mar 13, 2011

80's are back! Great trailer! 🙂

Joaquin Prida on Mar 11, 2011

looks cool but i'm not sure about the whole part of the kids being the central characters..

whoknows on Mar 11, 2011

The Goonies Never Say Die

p86 on Mar 11, 2011

I don't feel the Goonies. I feel a cast of young kids. The comparison is starting to feel a bit forced.

Cracky on Mar 12, 2011

See....this is EPIC! (lens flares a plus!)

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

Pure awesome.

Mrjzn on Mar 11, 2011

what's with the ass shot at 1:41? That was pretty decent, I'll end up seeing it for sure. Who's composing the score?

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

I was thinking the same thing, and I think it's a John Williams score by the sound of it.

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

Yes! I was hoping it was Giacchino.

Anonymous on Mar 11, 2011

i kinda gives me a good old feel to it! 😀

Said on Mar 11, 2011

It's a kids movie even though I've never seen it. So I'll just pass judgement like I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I mean everyone knows that only children 10 and under can enjoy The Goonies. Herp!

Frank on Mar 11, 2011

Also you if you are older than 17 and younger than 13 and like Red Dawn you are just plain weird. Children can never be the at the center of a good movie. Idiots...

Frank on Mar 11, 2011

weird how?

Anonymous on Mar 14, 2011

You can't watch that without a smile on your face.

Moon on Mar 11, 2011

I predict this film will bomb.

Uncle Walt on Mar 12, 2011

The scene with those kids running through a giant train crash is a bit silly, I'll definitely watch it, does look pretty good.

Crapola on Mar 12, 2011

The more I see the less excited I get. I have little hope. Abrams is to originality as M. Knight is too "surprise" endings.

Close Encounters Meets E.T. Meets Stand By Me

Anonymous on Mar 12, 2011

I remember seeing the teaser with the creature trying to break out of the cargo hold and thinking to myself that this is going to be good. Now it could go both ways where it is just a great film or it is such a bad film that it is good like Monster Squad which is still one of my favorite films to this day. These kids seem to be pretty talented actors which is a nice change to the Jaden Smith's in the industry.

Maxx on Mar 12, 2011

Amazing trailer. Had me hanging right till end.

Vold on Mar 12, 2011

He loves lense flares more then Bay.

Raegan on Mar 12, 2011

Hey, did anyone of you noticed the website address mentioned in the trailer for barely 2 frames?? It says SBEDITINGROOM.COM on the negative running towards the end of the trailer.

Nishit_singh on Mar 12, 2011

Yeah! I noticed that too! who or what is SB? and what do they edit? hmm

Conrad Williams on Mar 12, 2011

Nishit_singh on Mar 12, 2011

Ahaha I was asking the same thing as Conrad when you first posted...and I am sure he feels as foolish as me

Maxx on Mar 12, 2011

Movie looks alright. That butt walking looked a lot better.

Mixednuts4you on Mar 12, 2011

OMG!! This looks like another winner from Abrams for sure.

ELI on Mar 12, 2011

Lahirry on Mar 12, 2011

"A classic" "visionary director" Good lord Alex you sure do talk shit up.

Silencio! on Mar 13, 2011

Looks like a fantastic spielbergesq movie with Abrams. Cant wait.

john s on Mar 13, 2011

Looks good, but I think Attack the Block looks even better! They're both are somewhat similar in tone.

jah p on Mar 13, 2011

Roofus on Mar 13, 2011

It has written Steven Spielberg all over. Cool!

Gianni Persello on Mar 13, 2011

epic! cant wait!

A5J4DX on Nov 13, 2018

oh man... I'm obsessed with this trailer. keep coming back here to watch it!

Lucas Rios on Mar 13, 2011

looks like cloverfield with ET, at least isn't like George Lucas with his never-ending story

Shol on Mar 14, 2011

Where's Sloth?

why so much lens flare? on Mar 15, 2011

I agree with you Alex. This is the one film I am looking forward to seeing the most this year. Abrams has a real winner here...

Last Son on Mar 15, 2011

Sigh. Sounded great and looked great with teaser trailer. This trailer? Looks like pablum for the preteeners. Predict a huge bomb similar to The Last Airbender.

cougar on Mar 16, 2011

This is the Steven Speilburg I know!!!

Ekko90 on Mar 18, 2011

For all you one sheet fans I have found a great poster at Check it out.
