Must Watch: Trailer for Landis & Trank's 'Chronicle' Superpowers Film

"There's nothing stopping us." Holy crap this looks good. Fox has debuted the first official trailer on MTV for Chronicle, a faux-documentary style found-footage flick following three high school friends who gain superpowers from a mysterious substance they find, and the repercussions that arise when they use those powers. This almost feels like a YouTube video come to life, and it makes you go "whoa" the first time you see it, but it looks very impressive and realistic. The cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Alex Russell and Dane DeHaan, and is the co-creation of Max Landis & Josh Trank. You've just GOT to see this trailer!
Watch the first official trailer for Josh Trank & Max Landis' Chronicle, via MTV:
Three high school students and friends make an incredible discovery, leading to them developing uncanny superpowers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities, and initially use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides soon begin to take over.
Chronicle is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Josh Trank, of a few episodes of "The Kill Point" TV series. The project was conceived by Trank and Max Landis, son of filmmaker John Landis, both credited for the story, but only Max for the screenplay. 20th Century Fox produced and is releasing Chronicle in theaters everywhere on February 3rd, 2012 early next year. Visit the film on Facebook. So what do you think?

Like it. Could be very good on it's own, but if it's an origin tale that sets up something bigger... it could be epic.

Please don't say it's all filmed on a mobile phone though. I like the look of it.

This must be the most retarded trend, that a trailer, i.e. an advertizement (!!!) for a movie is not available in your region???

Didn't we just see the whole film ? Three teenagers find an artefact in the ground, get superpowers, abuse superpowers, things go south. Big ending with lots of police and explosions.

That's how marketing likes to cut trailers now. They want you to feel you've seen the whole movie, yet want to see more of it.

Sadly, this is a serious ripoff of a brilliant BBC TV series called "MISFITS" (now into its' 3rd season). That series makes this movie look like a bad Saturday morning cartoon. There are new ideas, great acting, deep characters, great writing, great music, etc. Wait for the lawsuit...

Not going to argue that Misfits is a great show. However, they (the 'Misfits') get their abilities in a storm and the abilities they receive are based upon certain aspects of their personalities. I.E. Curtis wants to change his past, Simon feels like he's invisible, Kelly needs to know what people are thinking, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems all the kids in the trailer have similar abilities.

45
Should clarify, the three kids in the trailer all have abilities similar to each other - as in they aren't based upon anything involving their psyche. So how is it a ripoff?
