After delivering a wholly underrated romantic comedy in the form of Going the Distance with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore, director Nanette Burstein (right) is heading back into romantic territory, but with drama this time. Risky Biz reports Burstein will be at the helm of Unforgiving World, which was written by Nicole Holofcener (director of Please Give, Friends with Money). The romantic drama is actually a remake of a French film with a story about a newlywed couple working at the same architectural firm vying for the same position. The film shows different outcomes in parallel storylines depending who gets the job.
Burstein and Holofcener are some of the finest female talents working behind the camera today, that's for sure. Burstein also directed the Sundance selected documentary American Teen a few years back, not to mention co-directing The Kid Stays in the Picture documentary about famed producer Robert Evans. Meanwhile, Holofcener's scripts are consistently contain some of the most genuine dialogue in films today, and her direction is just as praiseworthy. With these two talents working together on a project, I think we're in for quite a great romantic drama. We'll definitely keep you updated on news for this film. Sound good?
