Albert Nobbs Trailer

"I think you are the strangest man I've ever met." Roadside Attractions has unveiled the first official trailer for Rodrigo García's Albert Nobbs, an emotional period drama starring Glenn Close as a woman posing as a man to disguise herself as a humble butler in Dublin, Ireland's most posh hotel during the late 19th century. Its a role that Close has studied and practiced for years, and will no undoubtedly get her great acclaim this awards season. The outstanding supporting cast includes Mia Wasikowska, Brendan Gleeson, Aaron Johnson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Janet McTeer. Give this a shot, at least for Close's performance.

Albert Nobbs (Close) struggles to survive in late 19th century Ireland, where women aren't encouraged to be independent. Posing as a man so she can work as a butler in Dublin's most posh hotel, 'Albert' meets a handsome painter and looks to escape the lie she has been living. Based on the George Moore short story.

Albert Nobbs is directed by Colombian filmmaker Rodrigo García, of Ten Tiny Love Stories, Nine Lives, Mother and Child and Passengers previously. The screenplay was co-written by actress Glenn Close & John Banville (The Last September), based on the short story by George Moore. Roadside Attractions is bringing Albert Nobbs to limited theaters starting this December, with an expansion later in January. Interested?

She looks like Robin Williams. This actually looks good, definitely a rent, possibly a buy in the end. Johnson's Irish accent is not too shabby.

It looks like a film that offers great performances, but would be difficult to watch.

What is it with Glenn Close dressing up as a man? She did it in Hook and now she's doing it again. Are there any other roles where she played a man? Is there something she's trying to tell everyone?
