Another Earth Trailer

"You don't know what's out there…" Damn, can Fox Searchlight really cut fantastic trailers. Earlier today we posted the trailer for The Art of Getting By, one of their four Sundance acquisitions that they've sold well with a great trailer. One of their others to feature today is Another Earth, directed by Mike Cahill, and starring/co-written by Brit Marling. This has such a wonderful sci-fi setup to it, but I've heard (since I haven't seen this yet) it's mostly in the background for the rest of the film. Anyway, this trailer for Another Earth will likely surprise and astonish everyone, so check it out when you get the chance, not to be missed.

A bright, ambitious young student and accomplished composer cross paths in a tragic accident one night.

Another Earth is both written and directed by American filmmaker Mike Cahill, whose feature directing debut was Boxers and Ballerinas in 2004. The screenplay was co-written by Cahill and Brit Marling, who also stars in this and co-wrote her other script, Sound of My Voice, as well as Cahill's Boxers and Ballerinas. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where it was acquired by Fox Searchlight, who's planning on bringing Another Earth to limited theaters starting on July 22nd this summer. Curious?

man I hate sci-fi movies that really are dramas..lol

Spanky on Apr 21, 2011

20

well, considering that "sci-fi" is just a setting and not a genre, you're looking at either comedy, horror, drama, action, suspense... etc. So really: "I hate dramas..lol"

so, i didn't read the text which was probably my fault but the title is really misleading. i thought it was going to be something cool, maybe a better Battle:LA and instead it's another drama that's been done before. sure, this one involves two earths but it's the same fucking premise as every other 'tear jerker' drama released these days. something original would have been nice.
