Paramount Reschedules Scorsese's 'Hugo Cabret' 3D to Thanksgiving

Martin Scorsese / Hugo Cabret

Briefly: Now this is an odd story. Deadline is reporting that although Sony Pictures used to be 100% set to release Martin Scorsese's newest film Hugo Cabret in 3D (based on Brian Selznick's bestselling novel), even setting a date in early December, Paramount is going to be taking over distribution and moving it up to Thanksgiving instead. So now Hugo Cabret, more of a family film starring Chloe Moretz, Asa Butterfield, Jude Law, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley, is now set to open 17 days earlier on Wednesday, November 23rd. The decision mostly came from production company GK Films, who wanted to move the release up.

Even if you hate 3D Xerxexx you have to give Marty a chance if anyone can use 3D the right way it would be Marty.

No I don't, nor will I. 3-D is the enemy of cinema, there is no: "Using 3-D the right way" in my vocabulary.

This comment is so pessimistic it's arrogant. I know I'm not the biggest supporter of 3D either at the moment, but I'm willing to give it a chance under the direction of a man who has proven his devotion to the integrity of film frequently over the years. If this turns out badly, I'll shut my mouth (Which could be the case after the disappointing Shutter Island.).
