Last week we got a glimpse at his period horror thriller The Awakening starring Rebecca Hall, and now we have word on the cast coming together for another project from Nick Murphy. Screen Daily reports Murphy will next adapt the British TV series "Conviction" under the guise of a feature film called Blood which will tell the story of two policemen who kill a murder suspect and are plunged into chaos when they are forced to investigate their own crime. And the film has an impressive cast lined up with Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind), Brian Cox (X2), and Stephen Graham ("Boardwalk Empire") attached.
Considering Murphy has his roots in British TV by working on series like "Occupation" (which snagged him a BAFTA) this is a perfect sophomore effort for him as a director. Of course, across the pond, the film will have a lot to live up to since the series won the BAFTA for Best Drama Series. Murphy seems to be quite a rising star though after The Awakening premiered at TIFF, and if his next venture turns out well, we could see him following in the footsteps of Duncan Jones (Moon) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to take on big Hollywood films here in the United States. Only time will tell.
