Release Date Updates: 'Anonymous', 'Looper', 'Lone Ranger' & More

June 10, 2011

Briefly: We've just updated our release schedules for both 2011 and 2012 to reflect a few updates to release dates announced recently. First up, indie comedy-horror favorite Tucker & Dale vs Evil, starring Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine, finally has a release date from Magnet Releasing for September 30th this year, with VOD starting August 26th. Additionally, TriStar has set Rian Johnson's time-travel sci-fi film Looper, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, for release on September 28th, 2012, the same weekend next year. Disney also set The Lone Ranger, with Armie Hammer, for late 2012, plus a few more updates.

The Lone Ranger, to be directed by Gore Verbinski, is set for December 21st, 2012, up against a strong holiday season that year, including Ang Lee's Life of Pi and Peter Jackson's The Hobbit a week before. Additionally, FilmDistrict updated their early 2012 schedule, moving the sci-fi thriller Lock-Out, with Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, to April 13th, 2012; and Gabriele Muccino's Playing the Field with Gerard Butler is now set for March 9th, 2012. Lastly, Columbia shifted the date for Roland Emmerich's Anonymous (watch the trailer) back to Halloween weekend, now opening October 28th, 2011 instead.

That's what I heard!! I hear there's  not a funnier movie out this year! It's supposed to throw the horror genre on it's head! I can't wait to see it!

Yep, you're right, that's supposed to be released then as well. It doesn't have a date, just December, but that's what I mean about December 2012 being such an exciting month!
