Robin Williams and Topher Grace Will Head 'Gently Down the Stream'

Just last month we learned about a new wedding comedy that would reunite Marvin's Room stars Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton. Now Showbiz 411 has word that veteran comic and actor Robin Williams is also looking to join the cast of Gently Down the Stream (which might end up being called The Wedding). The Bucket List writer Justin Zackham is directing the film which tells the story of a long-divorced couple who, for the sake of their adopted son's wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. They quickly learn it's not easy, especially when their past, present and future unravel for all to see.
In addition, Topher Grace and Susan Sarandon have also joined the cast which already includes Amanda Seyfried and Katherine Heigl too. Apparently it was Seyfriend who let the bit about Williams joining the cast slip while at the premiere of The Devil's Double at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Keaton and DeNiro seem to have the lead roles, but Grace and Seyfried are playing the couple-to-be. Meanwhile Heigl is playing Grace's sister, and Sarandon is someone outside of the two families. Meanwhile Williams seems to be overseeing the ceremony as Father Monaghan. Lately Williams hasn't made the best choices in romantic comedies (License to Wed was terrible), but films like World's Greatest Dad shows that he hasn't lost his edge. Here's hoping this turns out to be one of those good romantic comedies that come along every few years.

Sorry about that. Just Freudian slip I guess. He's directing this movie, but he only wrote The Bucket List. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm probably really backwards, but I do not like Williams in funny roles. He is amazing in dramatic, low key roles, though. More of that, imo. I'll probably check this out eventually, because I really like Topher Grace. His delivery always gets me.
