Rosamund Pike Lands Female Lead Opposite Tom Cruise in 'One Shot'
Though some fans of the novel were a little confused by his casting, there's no stopping Tom Cruise from starring in One Shot, an adaptation of Lee Child's novel of the same name which features the author's recurring character, former military policeman-turned drifter Jack Reacher. The project, which writer Christopher McQuarrie is directing for Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, is moving forward after setting a February 2013 release date last month. Deadline reports Rosamund Pike, who starred in Surrogates and has a role in the upcoming sequel Wrath of the Titans, has snagged the female lead for this.
The story follows Reacher as he investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. But Reacher soon learns the apprehension of the alleged sniper isn't the end, and this case won't be closed that easily. Pike is playing Helen Rodin, a local defense attorney defending the man arrested for the shootings who may not be the man they're looking for at all. She then works with Reacher to apprehend the true culprits behind the murders. It's strange that a Tom Cruise film is getting a February release, but since summer gets so bloated with blockbusters anyway, it might be the best move, especially since McQuarrie has directed a film since The Way of the Gun back in 2000.
Rosamund Pike is stunningly gorgeous. She should have joined the A-list years ago.

She already was A-List when she was known as Miranda Frost in Die Another Day.

We are not *confused* about Tom Cruise. We're TICKED OFF! He is NOT Jack Reacher in any way, shape, or form. Shame on you for saying that we're confused. And shame on you for casting someone NOT suited to play Jack Reacher. I, for one, will NOT be seeing this.

Ya Alex why the hell did you cast Tom Cruise for this? I don't know how you sleep at night Billington.

Probably the worst casting for any film adapted from a novel with Tom Cruise as Reacher. They have found the complete opposite type of person to play Reacher. Chris Hemsworth would have been perfect. It's just another example of Hoolywood ruining good literature. Probably won't see the movie myself because of that. Reacher is 6.5" and 250 pounds. It's one of the most defining things about him and is what lets him do the things he does in the novels because of his size. Really disappointed when I heard about the casting.

getting a dwarf 2 play him is just stupid it aint even as if hes a good enuf actor 2 make up for it !! unless they cgi him a foot an a half taller !!

way to make yourself look stupid. Cruise is 5'7" and I bet he's taller than you. But you're little in the mind too so you lose twice.
