'Salt' Director Phillip Noyce Making 'The Arrangement' After 'Timeless'
Though we had heard earlier this year that Salt director Phillip Noyce would be at the helm of Hunter Killer, an adaptation of the forthcoming Navy SEALs thriller novel Firing Point, Antoine Fuqua has now come on to direct the film. Now Variety has word on another project Noyce will take on instead as Mandate Pictures as set the filmmaker to direct The Arrangement. The story follows a married woman who makes a deal to spend three days with a wealthy man in exchange for a loan and must choose between him and her husband. Sounds like an intriguing, original, more low key thriller that won't be as over-the-top as Salt.
It's not clear when production would start on the film as no cast has been set, and Noyce has some other projects he might take on first. Noyce is still attached to direct Timeless from Enchanted writer Bill Kelly, and with Liam Hemsworth already attached to lead that project and more casting on the way, it will likely be his next film. Of course, Noyce is also supposed to be working on a remake of the 1988 Jean Claude Van Damme action flick Bloodsport, but once again it's not certain how far along development on that project is at this point. Noyce hasn't made action thrillers as good as Patriot Games or Clear and Present Danger in awhile, and though The Arrangement seems to be on a smaller scale, it's at least an original idea, and those are pretty hard to come by these days.
