Arnold Schwarzenegger

In October we learned that Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to the big screen meant new projects for the action icon left and right. In addition to The Last Stand and The Expendables 2, the Governator had also signed on to star in Black Sands, a new action film from Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, the duo behind the Navy SEALs flick Act of Valor (watch the trailer right here). The film's original story was said to follow Schwarzenegger as a loner who wages war against a ruthless weapons manufacturer and his private army in the Southwest, however, it sounds like the project now has a bit of a supernatural twist to the plot. Read on!

Now titled Black Sunday, Schwarzenegger told TheArnoldFans (via The Playlist) that he's playing some kind of immortal hero now. The actor says, "I'm a kind of angel, but I can not currently say more about this film." Apparently the project is now being described as a cross between Commando and Constantine, which sounds a little like End of Days to us, but since Schwarzenegger has been away from the big screen for so long, we'll just assume he forgot about that film just as much as the rest of us wish we could. Anyway, we'll see if Schwarzenegger's new films are better than his later work before heading into politics.

I hate to say it but End of Days was one of his better films in is career. And I really don't see the similarity unless the weapons manufacturer is Satan and trying to breed with a girl next door type. I have always enjoyed Arnold in movies because he always seemed to have fun in his projects no matter what it is. Actors that are fawned over like Jason Lee irritate me because you can tell when they hate the project they are in like the Alvin and the Chipmunks series. Man up and deal with what you chose to be a part of.

Well, I think the plot will be changing slightly since his character is now some sort of angel, but we'll see what happens.

Aha true enough. Now if I see a cameo by Kevin Pollack...

Agree about End of Days. I thought it was a solid flick. Gabriel Byrne was great, as usual. I'm not sure what you're implying with your Kevin Pollack comment. Good or bad? Personally, I dig Pollack.

Pollack is one of my favorite character actors. I was just saying if he makes a cameo then I would jump onto the idea that they are trying to have Arnold do another familiar role with a smart ass sidekick. I hope not. I think that this could be an opportunity for Arnold to have some fun and try something new.

Black Sunday is a John Frankenheimer film from the 70's... Title change is needed.

Absolutely. I think Black Sands is just fine, why change it to something already used? Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if there already is a Black Sands as well.

Alright, replies out of the way. I myself am looking forward to anything this man does. I've missed him.
