Sony Re-Teaming with MGM to Co-Finance/Distribute James Bond 23

Briefly: I knew this would happen! Throughout all the proceedings surrounding MGM finally getting back on the right track, many kept wondering if another studio would end up winning rights to some of their big franchises like James Bond. Well, Sony Pictures, who distributed Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace to much success, has officially reached an agreement to "co-finance and theatrically market and distribute Bond 23 worldwide" in 2012, as well as Bond 24 after that. I really didn't expect Sony to give up this big franchise, plus its only getting better with Sam Mendes directing, and maybe Javier Bardem starring, next.
"After successfully working on the re-launch of the James Bond franchise with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, we could not be more proud or privileged to continue our association with Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Daniel Craig, and the talented teams at EON and MGM," said Sony's Amy Pascal. "Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business. We have longstanding relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together," said MGM's CEOs Gary Barber & Roger Birnbaum. The studios will also continue to "explore co-financing opportunities on future motion pictures." Bond 23 is currently scheduled to arrive November 9th, 2012.
Bring on Bond 23!

Loved Casino Royale. Daniel Craig as Bond has been a terrific change up. Quantum, though not as good, grew on me after the second go around and I find myself liking it more and more. I'm excited, very happy to hear this is happening. Question: ??? Is Bardem just going to star or is he actually taking over as Bond in Bond 24? Think he'd make an excellent villain, not feeling Bardem as Bond so much.

I think its a villain role and he's not British.

I like the old 007, he is the most handsome.

What they did with Bond in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace was pure awsommness! Daniel Craig has been the fanciest and most athletic fitted actor for the role, the movies gotten into a much realistic tone, I heard that Bond 23 was going to be called Red Sky at Night, sounds pretty damn good! Looking forward to this big time.

The magic of the 007 movies is that none of them are really terrible. True you can get not-so-good bond films, but when atrocities like the Twilight or Transformers instalments clog up multiplexes, all instalments of the Bond Franchise are masterpieces.
