Sound Off: Alister Grierson's Sanctum in 3D - What Did You Think?

Sanctum

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? We first heard about this movie, originally described as an underwater 3D drama-thriller, almost five years ago, but it's finally hitting theaters so hold your breath and dive in. Produced by James Cameron, directed by Alister Grierson in Australia, Sanctum, which you must to see in 3D or else, arrives in theaters everywhere this weekend. But is it any good? How are the performances from actors like Richard Roxburgh & Ioan Gruffudd? Was it an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride? Or was it too cheesy? If you've seen it, leave a comment and let us know what you thought of Sanctum!

Note: I haven't seen Sanctum yet, but wanted to open up discussion, since this is the "new Cameron movie" and is something we've been waiting to see for years. Was it entertaining? Is it worth seeing this weekend? Once I've seen it, I will update here my thoughts, but in the meantime fire away with your own comments!

What did you think of Sanctum (and was it in 3D)? Great 3D action or cheesy and forgettable?

I havent seen it so this will probably get deleted but I think most people look at this and think The Descent without the monsters....just very uninteresting.

Ha, well considering there's nothing else, I don't mind leaving it... Yea, I don't know if anyone is even going to see it. Would like to hear some reactions though...!

The only thing this movie has going for it is throwing James Cameron's name around. The trailers just looked awful, awful, awful. I doubt I will rent it either.

I watched a Screening of Sanctum on Tuesday and actually liked it. The story was ehh, like Cody W. said its The Descent without the monsters. For me the acting was mediocre, Richard Roxburgh's character Frank was the best role by far, he was just so BadAss. But overall I would give it a 7.5/10

I wasted 12$ on this POS. The 3D was weak. The story was weaker.

I actually saw this movie and while it was good, it was honestly more like Cameron had some time to kill and spare change to give off. acting was ok but lower the quality of the camera and you got SyFy disaster movie on you.....

I really liked the film the 3D is excellent and the film felt very claustrophobic.

I thought it was decent enough, though without Cameron's involvement it would just be your average adventure film.

The dialogue and acting are absolutely atrocious. The true events that this film is inspired by are pretty intense and awesome. The 3D was really good. Better than most 3D films out there right now. It's pretty hard getting through the first 25 minutes of the film. But once the movie finally kicks into gear then it gets entertaining. Without the 3D then this would probably not be too exciting to watch. But I definitely have respect for the filmmakers who chose to perform the daunting and ambitious underwater 3D shooting. The underwater scenes payed off in the end.
